I had this problem before with 32red, I emailed the affiliate manager then they got the data refreshed and it fixed

I must say that makes me a little nervous having to request my data to be refreshed!

They are looking at online casinos as well as sports betting.

Does anyone know how this might affect us?
Promoting online casinos, online poker (and live-betting for sports) to Australian citizens has been illegal since about 2005
However, while newspaper, TV and radio ad standards were strictly enforced, very little monitoring of internet activity has ever been seen.

You are right to be be concerned that a recent string of newspaper pieces and statements by attention seeking politicians.
It IS feasible that there may be a change to the enforcement standards and procedures within Australia.
If you are using a .com.au website - or are domiciled in Australia then you are within reach of local law enforcement.

If you are outside Australia then I do not expect much change to the current situation.

If an Australian business puts a text link on their website to my review site is that illegal?

If the link says something like BEST ONLINE CASINOS FOR AUSTRALIAN PLAYERS HERE or AUSTRALIAN CASINO BONUSES then yes it probably would be considered an inducement to play and clearly illegal according to the current Australian laws.

The law is quite clear about advertising to Australian residents to play online casino, online poker, and live sports betting - it's not allowed in any form.
Enabling them to play via registration links, and promoting joining offers is also clearly breaching that law too.

But - as I said - enforcement of the law on the internet has not really happened (yet), with action only in mainstream media like TV, radio and newspapers.
It is illegal but there has not been any response - probably because the Australians realise the enforcing the internet outside their borders is impossible.

However, given the recent enhanced publicity, and a rogue politician (Xenophon) then it would not surprise that .com.au websites and Australian residents / companies with overseas sites came under scrutiny.

Or things might stay exactly the same - and this spat of bad press might go away without changes - who can REALLY tell in this sector?
;-)
