iGaming operator White Hat Gaming Limited is to pay a financial penalty for breaching multiple anty-money laundering and social responsibility protocols.

Richard Watson, Executive Director for the Gambling Commission stated:
"Through our tough compliance and enforcement activity, we will continue our work to raise standards in the industry and continue to hold failing operators to account.”

article quote...

The regulator moreover proclaimed that it had been particularly concerned by the failure of White Hat Gaming Limited to establish the source of funds for a punter who lost approximately £70,000 ($96,130) in only three months as well as its ‘ineffective interaction’ with a second who blew roughly £85,000 ($116,770) after just an hour.

$96K loss over 3 months is large, but not anywhere near some whales I've had. Had one whale lose over US$110K in a month.

However, the $116K blown in one (1) hour, if this is actually cash deposit, then that is alarming. Though, I would assume this is won money (credit balance) also known as wagering. Meaning, the player probably wagered $116K in a one (1) hour period. Which, really isn't that hard to do, if, your betting max spin on some slots, which could be $200+ a spin.

To place that kind of wagering into perspective.

If each spin take 5sec to complete. That's 12 spins per 1 minute @ $200 each. Total = $2,400 per minute

$2,400 x 60 min (1 hour) = $144,000 wager, per hour.

Of course, no mention if that specific player won or lost...

FYI... back in August 2020, I had a massive run at Bitstarz. Granted, I'm a high roller, but Lady Luck was sitting on my lap. Max bets were AU$250. Of those, my highest win was $125K on a single spin. All up, I won close to $200K that night. That was a few BTC received :D

Point is, to win Massive, you have to risk Big/Massive bets.

Last time I checked, that's what gambling is ALL about. Players risking cash, to win cash in return. In some cases, lots of it!

More comical... The UKGC makes money from the backs of these gamblers. If the casinos didn't have whales like this, the operators could not afford the insane fees that the UKGC charge them... Talk about hypocritical.
