Belgium and the Netherlands have recently implemented significant changes to their gambling laws to promote responsible gambling and protect vulnerable players. These changes include the introduction of universal loss limits, financial risk checks, stricter financial penalties for operators, an increase in the legal gambling age in Belgium, and restrictions on online gambling advertising. The aim is to create a safer gambling environment while reducing the involvement of minors and mitigating potential gambling-related harm.

It's a double edged sword, where no one is going to win. I suppose Governments are scared of being sued in future, for not taking adequate measures to protect citizens from harm.

Gov's., want the gambling tax; it's why they implement licensing and such.

It's like cigarettes, a certain % of people who smoke, will die from a smoking related illness. Here in AU, the Gov's mindset/solution to combat this issue, is to keep raising the cigarette tax.

EG - a pkt of Marlboro 25's = $59 (€35, £30, US$38)

Upping the price has caused those who can't afford it, to turn to what's called 'chop chop', illegal tobacco. They are now even starting to outlaw vaping. If it wasn't for vaping (4 years ago) I'd still be smoking. Like gambling, people will go to where they can bet freely, and without restrictions.

Unless a Gov., blanket-bans gambling, smoking, alcohol or any other form of legal activity, there is always going to be a % of the population who WILL become addicted, to such activities!
