Hi Folks,

For the last two years my team and I at CopyComposer have been working on content for lots of the top programs and operators. We have also worked with a huge amount of affiliates over the last year.

We quickly realised that we should utelise our expertise and invest it in an affiliate website of our own. Our website is live but definately not ready to ask for anyone's opinion.

We have a huge list of long tail keywords/keyphrases that we would like to use and plan to cover, casino reviews, slots, live casino reviews, software provider articles, general news, promo feed and more.

The idea is that instead of putting all of our eggs in one basket it would be better to create a large site with lots of pages so that we can create niche landing pages across the board. That way we can look at the best performing areas and push them harder.

We will also have a section of the website which offers the latest in news relevant to affiliates themselves. This is because we are currently writing PR for a number of programs so very often, we're some of the first guys to find out about term changes, administration changes, additional languages, new games and so on.

We feel pretty comfortable and think that we have the info and resources required to make a success of our first site and get us ranking high for some good performing long tails within the first 9-12 months.

Of course, we don't think that we know it all. Nobody does. Does anyone notice something obvious that we are missing from our plan. Obviously it all gets a bit more complex than this... This is just a basic outline of what we are doing.

As for link building... We have a few very talented guys that plan to use some internet wizardry to encourage a good level of organic growth in our links. We won't be buying links and we won't be competing for ad clicks. We will be working on a strictly 100% organic basis.

Any thoughts?....

P.S - Nice to meet you all. My name is John.

All of our keyword list have been prepared through research via semrush. There's no conflict of interest. Anyone is free to work towards ranking for these keywords. Most of the content we do with clients actually doesn't involve too much SEO so there's really no overlapping of interests.

What makes you so cynical daftdog?

I have a small question that someone may be able to offer a perspective on. We are currently contacting a number of programs to talk about promotion arrangements. We have hit a bit of a sticking point and I need to make a decision. Essentially we are looking for deals that offer a good revshare option with no negative carry over. I am of the mind that it would be better to promote smaller brands on a large scale due to the fact that less players have an account with these brands. Do you think that it would be a better idea to promote larger brands?

We will be going pretty full on with this so it's obviously essential to hit the right brands early on. Does anyone have a specific opinion on this?

Testing different brands to see if they convert is the best way forward. Sure, you want to research everything
ahead of time and find the best brands for the site, but it can be difficult. You can find brands that convert
extremely well with one web site, but then they won't convert at all for another. To get the right mix of casinos,
it really takes some time to test them out. Ultimately, you want casinos that convert well.. because you'll want
to build up a base of players that continue to play, so that your commissions with the program will rise over time.

Large / small - size is not really the right question.

Promote brands with integrity - that look after customers / players and deal with affiliates correctly.
Avoid brands that have a reputation for cheating / scamming / or cutting corners.

agreed. To the best of your ability (isn't always going to work out) - promote the best properties who treat players well. that is what is important. If you send the potential player to a bad casino, they will never trust your portal again.

So - to answer your questions, it isn't all about the 'size' of the property you are promoting.. it's about the quality. With that said, if Property X is well known and saturated while Property Y is not as well known with less players - you may want to focus on Property Y.

Sorry but am I missing something? Is the "new casino affiliates questions" section of the forum not a place I can ask questions as a new affiliate?

Hacking? - Really? No dude, we won't be doing any hacking!!!

I only joined the forum a few days ago and I am new to the casino affiliation world. When I am able to help other forum members then I will be absolutely happy to do so as I am a big advocate of helping when it's possible.

Worst competitor. I don't have any visions of harming anyone's business or whatever.

Are newbies not welcome here?

Please explain.

Which brands to promote is not an easy question.

New brands can be good to pick up the first player but established affiliates might have a better chance since they have traffic and rankings. Also just because a program like 32Red has been around, yes there are some players that have already signed up and you can't convert them but some of these larger brands spend money on TV and you might benefit from their offline advertising. Mr Green does a lot of TV and print advertising for example.

You'll have to find a fine balance between quality programs that respect their players as well as ones that do the same for affiliates. Many programs have minimum activity quotas which sort of force you to over promote brands for the risk of having your commissions dropped. For new affiliates, you'll want to be cautious of working with these programs. Also it's hard to know at the start which programs are going to earn better for you and that is a bigger discussion on acquisition, retention and the nature of your traffic and site. Some casinos do a better job of acquisition and retention than others. All of this takes time to learn about the different softwares, licensing bodies and probably investing the terms and conditions. Of course networking helps to know which programs others are happy with.

Like myself, your requirements will automatically eliminate most of the larger brands.

For small or start-up affiliates, NCO and Quotas are a total KILLER - which is why I stopped adding any programs who have these things a few years ago (and have dumped most I was already working with).
You will find that most of the "Big Boys" have one or both of these things - AVOID!

Other than that, the advice given by others above is spot on: test the water to see what works best for you.
