Im surprised to=) its not that its worth it but more like its the only way nowdays (almost atleast)=) But to make it profitable you should do it with a good plan so you actually pay for something that will bring you money later.

Buying backlinks is still a part of linkbuilding strategy. Just choose carefully from which site to buy, and if the money are woth it.

Yeah if you run opensiteexplorer and check the backlink profile of almost any top ranking site, you will see most buy backlinks...

I have found that you don't need a lot, just a handful of strong links will do much better than a bunch of mid quality links. I prefer article exchanges with similar high-quality sites, but it seems everyone is becoming lazy nowadays :)

Myself included, I need to work on my DA / PA a little as well.

Just in time!
Been wondering about the same issues my self. Thanks to everyone that answered.

Have another question to add though or rather just a confirmation -
Say im offered a link exchange of some sort - paid or not - i check this opensiteexplorer and i like what i see (another question on its own, when do i like what i see? )
as long as this said site is related to the gaming industry - im good? anything else to watch out for?

Thanks alot.

Quite a few sites show impressive DA, PA etc.. but are pure junk... 3-4 organic visitors per day

A site doesnt have to have a linkprofile with only gambling links if its a gamlbing site, actually to me this is unatural but what i does have to have is links from good sites. Check out the sites dont just check DA, PA like Frank says but take time to visit the sites. Sometimes i see sites with great DA/PA but when you visit them they look shit. TO me this is stil a bad link even if "looks" good. The thing with links nowdays in my opnion is to build trusted backlins and to do that you need to get links on trusted sites.

Speaking purely hypothetically here, but wouldn't it be a smarter idea to get links from sites with real traffic rather than from sites with high DA/PA (stats that can be easily manipulated?). Of course, now that I say that, I'm sure traffic stats can be easily manipulated as well. Still, if one takes the time to read a few pages on a site, one can typically get a feel for whether or not it deserves it's DA/PA/traffic stats or not. Quality sites stand out and poor sites are easy to spot!

It' still a good method how can you earn links, but be aware of the quality of that links. Always check some metrics before you will buy some links.

I think that the TF from Majestic SEO is really gooded metric, how can you recognize a good website, I'm using it and it works well. Also, don't forget to have diversified link profile. That means to have all kind of links (forum, blog, PR, directory, sitewide, guest posts, etc...)

Good luck ;)

Totally agree with the above. I would say also look at the TF/CF ratio. Using more than one tools will give you a better idea so DA/PA, TF/CF and SEMrush are a good combination in my opinion to have a good idea of the site.

Sounds rational. I agree with you, too.

Yes.

But make sure you know what you're doing, there are 100 different types of links, and you everyone is selling links now.

It's risk management, some links are more risky than others, but they can also get you quicker results. It really depends on what you're looking for, geographies and niches you're working with.
