First off, let me say... there is an affiliate tag here. BUT - I haven't made any money from this because I really don't do much promotion. I tell people to sign up with them all the time because they are an awesome host... but I always forget the affy tag :)

Anyway - This is an interesting proposition for those who run Wordpress websites. This company is doing something completely different.. .check it out (landing page):

Liquidweb Wordpress Hosting

This is a fully-managed word press hosting option. That is HUGE with WP. We all forget sometimes to update - well, they do it for you. We all forget sometimes to back up - well, they do it for you. Here are some COOL features (IMO):

  • THEY WILL MOVE your existing WP blog over to their server
  • They will update your WP and plugins for you
  • They have LIGHTENING fast page loads (highly optimized)
  • SSL is included

Anyway... if nothing, check it out. Have a look at the options. Maybe you like it, maybe you don't - but if I had a site on WP, I think I would move it to something like this. Safety from the hackers.

Never tried them but heard some good stuff about them as well...
If referring to managed WP hosts I would recommend WP-Engine which is awesome too.

Not sure it's interesting enough that I'd pay $139/mo for 10 wp-installs.
Most hosting providers help you transfer your existing sites for free. And plugin updates is a built in function in Wordpress, which is free.
1 year for 10 installs (tho I'd prefer no limit) would cost $1668.
For that I could buy 1 year hosting + SLL ($99+10) and spend the rest $1559 on a CDN if I wanted faster servers to handle my content.
Or, a 6 core + 18.5GB RAM VPS for the same price, which is enough to power all your needs.

I'd stay away from WP-Engine like the plague

tobbe, thanks for sharing this review - thats one heck of a negative review Matthew wrote there, lol :)...
However, to be honest, I had mostly positive experiences with them till now...

Regarding using bare-boned VPS hosting, I think it depends on your priorities - there's no argue that VPS probably will be cheaper than managed-hosting,
but some site-owners that handle with daily HUGE amount of content & SEO to work on,
would prefer spending a few more bucks keeping their DevOps, IT & security stuff managed,
so they can be more focused on things with actual direct business value.
That's why although managed solutions are quite pricy, in some scenarios I think they are a great solution to choose from (disregarding specific vendors..).

Thanks for the tip, its always nice to hear about quality Wordpress hosting solutions. A hosting provider that knows Wordpress through and through can definitely make the right server configurations too, which always help speed .

www.siteground.com are pretty good and have auto install and update options as well as a huge range of tools for cart set up etc. If you're in the UK try get your hosting in the and something that is pretty fast both in terms of connection speed, but also their servers. Google hates a slow page speeds as we all know.

Wordpress updates automatic Andy if you set it up and also the same can be done with plugins?

Maybe I am being silly. I am for one thing sure not trying to be difficult with you :) BUT letting them host and sort out updates / plugins and others things. Is that not putting you own site on risk? I mean they will have access to everything?

They are a respected company. It is always up to the individual - I happen to trust them, you do not have to.

Liquidweb is rather expensive and I got no idea why, it is like to buy a BMW instead of WV, same features 50% higher price just cause of the brand

IDK what sort of VW your using to compare, the pear... but
VW has nothing anywhere near the specs, design, interior or performance of my BMW. And lets not even discuss that emission control scam, VW pulled...

Generally these type of comments come from those who can't afford a BMW... just sayin.

LiquidWeb costs more, but that has a lot to do with the service they provide. I never have issues with them and it is fully managed - which means they will do just about anything for you. That includes installing background software you need, adding modules (think php), and a lot of other tricky stuff that you may not know how to do yourself. Plus - their servers are never down. I have also had them scan and remove malware. So - pretty full service team that gets back to you typically within 10 minutes. Worth it to me. Oh yeah... and they don't lie and oversell ;) If you get a VPS in many places they will completely overshare the RAM. Not cool. Same with CPU. Liquidweb doesn't do this.

I use WPengine too, they are expensive ($1000 per year), you are not allowed to use many WP plugins, because they could collide with their system, but the solution is very stable and fast..

I agree. WPengine is very stable and they saved my ass sooo many times :) But 1000/year for just 10 installs is killing me. I moved my sites there with a premision, that I can never use 10 installs, but now I had to delete one to create another..

At that price you could obtain a decent VPS. I pay around $70US @ KnownHost for a SSD-3, 4.25GB dedi ram, 70GB SSD and fully managed. It's equalshare on 24+ cores but even when all WP sites are being hammered, the most I've ever used is 2.5 cores. I love these guys, support tickets are answered within a few minutes 24/7. And unlike dealing with Level 1 support, I'm fairly sure with the VPS package, I'm accessing Level 2 support, straight up.

I've got 4 dedi IP's ($1 a month for a dedi ip) as well, all this for $70US a month. And, it's blistering fast!

I've had good experience with WPEngine. And also TSOHost... Currently considering Amazon EC2 but dislike the lack of management options.

I'm more hands on, I use Digital Ocean, far better performance than your average shared hosting or managed server solution.
