Why affiliate programs ban several countries?

Hello, forum members.
Sorry if it was questioned before. I still couldn't get why many affiliate programs (and even certified programs) ban affiliates from several countries. As an example, I quoted FAQ from "CWC Affiliates":

Due to the policies governing the Affiliate Programs on Club World Casino(s), we reserve the right to refuse or restrict applications from or sending traffic from the following countries.

Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia And Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Hungary, Indonesia, Jiangsu, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Pakistan, Republic Of Moldova, Romania, Russian Federation, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Ukraine, Uzbekistan.

I'm from Belarus, maybe I'm pretty new in affiliate business, and haven't learnt all business and ethical aspects, but I'm honestly trying to deliver to my visitors the latest information about online casinos, and also not to promote Rogued Casinos (I'm also getting information from Casinomeister forum and from AGD). What's the problem with living in these countries?

I understand, that sometimes banning affiliates from several countries it's not up to affiliate programs, but (as I quoted and bolded above) "due to the policies". I just want to know what are the main reasons for the country being banned by aff. program? Abuse? Terms violation? Other reason?

Personally I think that (if possible) every application should be reviewed not seeing on the country of residence.

It's pretty short message, and I said not all I wanted to say, but would like to hear your opinion(s) regarding my questions. Thanks!

To be honest, I agree with you 100%. And some of the countries on that list - Czech Republic, Denmark and South Africa, to take just three examples - seem odd.

I know that casinos have had problems with Danish bonus hunters, but to restrict affiliates from those countries seems a little silly.

The banning of countries has more to do with an excessive amount of fraud and chargebacks that has come from those countries in the past.

As far as South Africa goes, I believe this particular casino is based there and they don't allow affs from their home country, I believe it has to do SA laws.

And I agree with you, Lots0 on the banning of players from certain countries but refusing affiliates from the same areas seems short sighted.

You'd be surprised how many fraud rings there are in the affiliate side of the business too and to be honest, most of those countries on that list look like a lot that have been closed here too..

We banned phillipino affiliates for a long time and recently lifted the ban because we were getting hit by a lot of fraud coming from phillipine affiliates... but dont ban any countries any more... So i guess its a group by group thing..

Then you have the point that lots0 made about the group banning SA because that's where they are based.. You will find the same thing occurs with some e-wallets - they ban people from the country they operate from due to the laws in the country.

tryme1 - I'm pretty sure that Martyn is in Manchester, but I have a feeling he works remotely.

SlotMonster - perhaps you should contact each affiliate program that bans affiliates from your country and ask them if there is any way you can do a trial or something. I'm sure once they see that your traffic is not fraud ridden they will be happy to have you as an affiliate.

Actually, the Danes didn't invent it - it was already happening a lot in the days without wagering requirements. The Danish television had a show about it, and thousands of Danes hit the internet to collect their share.

And CWC is actually in Britain. Dunno what the SA deal is.

Most ethical affiliates are not aware of the huge amount of fraud going on on the affiliate side. And if you're sitting there scratching your head wondering how affiliates commit fraud - no one will tell you because no one wants it to spread. It hurts all of us.

Slot monster, if you contact a program and show them your site and it is a good site that you have put time and effort into, and explain your business philosopy to them, there is a good chance they will take you and watch you like a hawk for a while.

There are quite a few good affiliates in all of the above countries, along with some scoundrels. Having a good affiliate in one of these should be a big plus, they are emerging markets.

Be aware too, that in some of these countries it is difficult to receive payments and that may be an issue you need to discuss beforehand.

So, don't just sign up, contact them and explain yourself the same way you did here. I am sure you can get something off the ground, if not with one program, then with another.
