High Trust Flow contextual backlinks (Majestic) are the king for long term ranking.

I would stay away from article posting and web 2.0. If you are serious about buidling backlinks subscribe to linkresearchtools com. It is expensive but very good software. They have plans anywhere from 200 a month and up depending on what you are looking for. They have a special link detox plan if you want to disavow, but the penguin update (whenever it comes) will not count disavowed backlinks after sept 15 2014, so not purpose.

If you do not use link research tools, try to find websites that are in your niece, that have good metrics, and check their backlinks to make sure that they are not penalized. My two cents.

Going to try link research one now. This is my new area, working hard to move from Social media into SEO. Scary move

LinkReasearchTools is expensive but it will help you find potential backlinks that you know are not toxic ( according to their algo). I do not subscribe anymore but I do reccommend it

Related sites with high trust flow and citation flow metrics. Check out Majestic, even the free version can be useful as a start.

No problem, it's not just for link detox like most people think. The tools can help find non toxic backlinks and the webmaster info to email for an exchange.

As of late I find TF to sux as well, esp for expired domains - I saw a domain with TF0 but with 2 links from bbc and one from guardian, and total refering domains like 9, so I purchased it and once I put up 2-3 articles online on the domain the TF went up to 35, and now vary each day, so to be honest imo those SEO metrics and tools sux as much as Google, manual research is the key.

Are there any good SEO friendly forums that allow gambling links? It seems that a lot of forums do not allow gambling related links.

It's easy download the ahrefs toolbar, then search for they keywords you are looking to rank for voilia what you are looking for is usually right in front of you, The hardest thing about getting backlinks is having a good site yourself, I wont link to any low ranked sites unless they have good content and I can see that they are doing things correctly, We have all gotta start somewhere.

Majestic / Ahrefs / Open Site explorer. Check them all. It's perfectly possible for one to give you an inaccurate reading, but not all three.

I used to use these methods but now don't bother.. just producing content alone has driven my traffic to large figures no need for these tools which have a 2-10% accuracy things are changing so fast and none of the tools measure using the hundreds of other signals "just backlinks"

We'll have to agree to differ on that one. But in any case the question was about creating or acquiring backlinks. I do know that many people these days don't bother with links, but others do. In my opinion they are still extremely relevant and always will be, but each to their own.
