Age old problem of traffic.. It has been the bane of my life my whole "internet life"..Can NEVER get traffic!

Im wondering how do you guys get traffic ?

Lets say you had a brand new site, with no other sites to link to it - to build up backlinks..just you and your site.. How would you go about driving traffic to it ? What would be your strategy to drive 1000;s of hits of traffic a week/month ???

add your sig to some of the forums.
send out some press releases with your link.

I used to spend 5 times the amount of time promoting my site than I did making it.
Of course that was years ago and things are a little tougher now.

It just comes down to putting the hours in, add content, get links, add content, get links, repeat forever and ever and ever

May I ask where do you get your links from. Because emailing webmasters and asking for them bears no fruit. And besides who has time to operate a link exchange network. Not me!

I wont speak for Casey. But for myself, most of my links are natural through social networking I have put no emphasis on linking at all I have maybe added my site to a couple of directories and to my signature in forums, maybe I should put more effort into it but I seem to do ok without it.

If you do want to exchange links you will probably have more luck in link exchange sections of affiliate gambling forums rather than just emailing webmasters. Most webmasters (I know I do) just delete any link exchange emails but I would take the time to read a message from a forum member with a decent post count

Yes it sure does help. My advise to you is to concentrate on building unique content for your website. If your site's content is good visitors will follow and also try and be active on as many gambling forums as possible such as AGD, CAP and GPWA.

Good luck with your site.

May I ask why would you tell us to use press releases if you do not use them yourself ? If they were beneficial surely you would utilise them yourself. Or do you just have so much traffic you do not need to care about them ?

Its been years since I sent out any for the slots site. I have a couple of non-gambling sites that I send press releases out for and those keep me pretty busy.

Forum signatures are a quite outdated method of SEO, tbh. Same goes for these press releases in most cases. While all the links might count, these won't get you anywhere.

You should also look to diversify your traffic sources from the start. Gone are the days, when you could rely on Google. Well, the truth is you never really could and it was a dumb move, but when things are going well and those $10k months are rolling in, it's easy to forget about that.

To start things off, writing content that matters is the best SEO advice you will get. If your content is informative and offers value, those links will start to come naturally. Alternatively, create a good quality site and exchange links with other good sites.

Be consistent - update your website often. If you have a slots site, post latest winners, promotions and much more.

Use the power of Social streams. There are millions of people on YouTube/Twitter/FaceBook, all of whom could be your target audience. Think about what people are looking for and will share/like.

Sky's the limit for this topic, but these are just my 2 cents. Work hard & you'll get there.
