I would recommend buying a premium theme that has an annual renewal fee attached. This way the creator has a financial incentive to continually improve and maintain the theme.
Yer looks like any form of support for this theme is gone now.

The problem is that companies like this are thinking it's easy money to launch a theme and sell it. Originally the price was $ 200. They clearly had a look at how affiliate websites look like, but simply no clue about how it should work in the back-end.

I've used it and it was full of bugs. After some time, for sure this company realised that not that many people as they were hoping for, bought the theme. Even if the price was half of what they asked in the beginning. Also the support they've shown was not always very great. You clearly got the feeling that you were bothering them with asking things.

Shame as it was a great idea, still with some good programming skills you can modify and keep the theme alive, just means shelling out extra $$

I bought it and am currently using it. I liked it because I don't have great tech skills but with no support or updates I might have to change it, but that's an even bigger headache for me :(

It's quite an investment I guess, because this would mean changing almost the whole backend and solving a load of bugs. A theme is more than just a nice design. Flytonic doesn't look that nice, but the backend works way better.

And it's also mentality. If I contact Flytonic, they help me and I never felt that I am bothering them with questions. Even years after I bought there theme. This Responsivo guys gave immediately the feeling that I was bothering them. At GPWA I also saw a discussion between some affiliates and one of the programmers. The way the programmer was responding there...

I asked the developer last Wednesday if he still supports the theme in any way, no reply so far......looks like he has dumped the project.

Sorry to resurrect this thread. I have been using this theme since March 2016 for OCR. It is a good theme, but it is such a shame it is no longer supported. The last update was September 2016.

I am having a few niggly CSS issues, but no doubt I will resolve in time. Just a pain in the backside. I think the next site overhaul I do I will pay for a coder to develop my own bespoke Wordpress theme.

At the end of the day you get what you pay for.

I received an email today from Protheos Themes, about responsive theme has been updated to version 1.2.6.

I not test yet, but it's good news with the project still alive :)

Can't see any major changes apart from the ability to add in T&C's. Don't think it needed anything apart from that as the themes are very good

Their site is down now so I cannot download the 1.2.7 version they released. Their website has been down for over a week now where they host the ZIP file that i need. Did you @bettingappguide have emails to them or the ZIP file that you can upload somewhere for me to DL?

the next site overhaul I do I will pay for a coder to develop my own bespoke Wordpress theme.

Aside from major core updates, where you may need to have the bespoke theme modded to suit, going that path seems to be the best option these days for theme longevity.

P.S. @Webzcas - Dave I've been away for the past week. I'm back Friday. Lets try to slot in a Skype call then :)

Yep. Would say that it's ok of course to try first with a theme, but if the website is making any money or if you're planning to make any money with it, invest something in a reputable company building up something from scratch on.

Then you have:
- something that is unique and not a theme that 100s or even 1000s of others are using too
- something that is exactly what you want with all the features that you want. This paid themes are always lacking things.
- something that is manageable on the back-end and not spaghetti.
- decent support.
- something that works for the long run

I would go for a reputable company, not the cheapest Indian or Pakistan web designer that offers a custom quality site for $ 499.
