Hi all - I'm new to this forum,

I'm thinking about ways to get more traffic on my new website. I was thinking about link exchange but then I started thinking about paying to have my website advertised. I have looked into a couple of different gambling directories that you can pay for them to list your website in the top position only $29 which isn't allot of money and as the old adage goes you have to spend money to make money. Does anyone else know any other websites that will list/promote my website for a small fee?

You wont get any traffic from those kinds of directories, so the only reason to do it is for the links. Of course, google has massively devalued links from directories so tbh I wouldn't bother...

Better to get links from real sites by making deals with the webmasters. But more important, make sure your site is content heavy and useful.

The best thing you can do is try not to worry about it too much. Make any link building endeavours slow, steady, relevant and quality - too many bad/irrelevant links in the beginning can send your site down a google path that is very tricky to recover from. Focus on content - have useful pages and try to do things that other people haven't and that you're an expert on.

For a quick decent link, add your site to your AGD profile (here: CyberPunter's Websites). You might want to start a review thread here on the forum too so you can get feedback from the rest of us.

Thanks for the help :) Website listed. That's a good idea, I'll have to start adding more content but I'm just not feeling the motivation with the zero traffic I'm getting. This website is the first I've ever made so I really don't know what to expect.

It can be very frustrating at first when you have very little to no traffic, but the key is to not give up. :)

That is 100% correct. Don't give up. You need to AT LEAST give it 3 months of solid work (content, content, content). Then see where your traffic is at. It took me 6 months before I made money, but when I did - it was worth all the effort.

Others are correct, for now don't focus so much on getting the word out about your site. Focus on creating quality and UNIQUE content. The more unique the better, and after doing that for a good 3-4 months you should have a few hundred strong content filled pages. Then focus a little on getting the word out about your 'Amazing and Content filled' site. After that I would start to incorporate networking with others as you will be taken more seriously with a proven work ethic and will be more willing to work with you.

How long has the site been around? It really takes time before you get any search traffic - 3/6 months min before it'll really get going.

Just sit down and write a giant list of article titles that you think would be useful to your potential readers, then start plowing through them. Try to time your posts (you can schedule them if it makes it easier) so that they're spread out - one every couple of days if you're only doing a few per week, or one a day if you can manage it.

At this point it's better to focus on evergreen content (ie: stuff that doesn't go out of date) rather than news or promo posts (which, by the time someone reads them, will be 'old news' so to speak). As I mentioned earlier, try to do also things that others haven't done to death already.

Thanks for the input every one I agree I'd best get started on content, I've done some already but I really need to get started on those articles. I've spent the last two days working on a banner and I'm still not getting anywhere, I'm too darn picky for my own good lol!

I've certainly been there myself!

Think of it this way though - an awesome banner or design isn't going to get you the traffic. But awesome content will!

That's true. Looks like a problem I can't throw money at ;) So how many pages of content are we talking here? I know Google loves content but are we talking like hundreds of pages?

There's no set number, just keep at it - but don't sacrifice quality for quantity (10 great articles is much better than 50 mediocre ones).

Zero motivation = Zero traffic.

Think about that. You came into the most competitive industry on the internet with zero motivation? Are you looking for a free lunch in an ocean of sharks? 8) hmmmmm

The key is in the lock.

You can see some short term results with 30-50 pages, as that's a good start. But you want to grow your site everyday, the goal is to create unlimited content, because when you stop is when your website is likely to die off..

And I can't stress this enough, starting out you want to create the most unique content you can come up with... Sometimes some really crazy articles will hit a search word that gains some traffic with no competition. Have fun with it, be yourself and put some personality into your work and you will find its easier to create quality content that way.

Hey Cyber punter,

Your sign on the front page of your site...

RULES!!! I love it. Original and good design my new friend, honestly.

You should take the adive of these guys to heart but hear me out...

There is a really good book called "Zen Mind: Beginners Mind"

The basic principle here is that when you are just becoming an expert at something, you have the luxury of not being diluted by others input.

The prob with the getting traffic from search engines is that no one, not me, not you, not Matt Cutts, knows exactly what it takes.

Go ahead someone tell me you know... because you don't, it is ethereal, it is positioned on a knifes edge.

Before you decide to say "well this works", just prove which one of your links is the strongest. You can't unless you only have 5 total, and 4 of them are on online18's old and forgotten domains of years ago. (little joke ;))

So, yes listen to them they are absolutely right, but also

Be proud!! I personally like it a lot and with some more experience you can do well.

If it feels right to share your site somewhere.... do it.

Ye, i got to say im now making like 1 year into casino only, since poker as been on the low, but the fact i wrote some solid 60 or more articles really allowed me to market them properly later on and when google picked my terms up sometimes i make good results and seems to be improving month by month....

Getting good links is the most chaleging imo.... sometimes i can get some from a fellow here and there but no sure thing... keep hammering at it making stupid simple questions you would as a gambler or player, and keep it alive... then write some more...
