I don't think countries should mess with what their citizens enjoy doing online. As long as the person is of legal age and aren't hurting anyone, then they should be able to spend their own money in whatever way they choose, including in an online casino.

Yes, some people can have problems, just like they would in an offline casino run by the government, or govt licensed establishment. I think moves like this are less about looking after their citizens and more about losing their own slice of the pie to online operators.

Strike one for freedom of choice.

I read somewhere that there is a ongoing consultation in this regard which will still be running until the 15th of August. But IP/DNS blocking could come into effect earlier. Such sad news. The nordic countries especially Norway are so lucrative...

I'm leaving my Norwegian page open for Norwegians living abroad. If they're living outside Norway and they want to play in their own language, then they should be able to do that.

But even in cryptocurrency era, nothing will be easier if DNS/IP blocking are in place. People will still have to use proxies and techniques probably hard to obtain and implement to most of the players.
