Hello dear members, hope you all have a awesome time!

Ive got a noobie question. Let me elaborate.

Most affiliate sites have dozens of sub-menus linked to their navigationbar. I think its user unfriendly. Im working on a poker website with the focus on informative and strategical content. Obviusly i want to rank for all keywords possible. On the other side i dont want to have 7 sub-menu pages as a dropdown with "bitcoin pokersites", "Visa Pokersites" etc.
I can understand to have real realy important sites as a sub-menu but not just all sought after keywords.

What is my solution do give users a good navigation without having too many sub-menus hanging down? I thought id have one main category in the menu (if there is important pages related to that page i adhere them as a sub-menu but keep them to max 4) and then just link to the sub-pages of each category on my "main-page".

Reasonable?

The solution to have a "stiff menu" that appears as soon as you have clicked on the main menu i dont like...

I agree it's not user-friendly for 99% of all websites. Also, it makes no sense. Like people are spending ages on your website clicking all the menu-links. Most people are looking for something (that's why Google has driven them to you) and up to you to give them what they need.

1.001 sub-menu links is definitely not what they're looking for. Why would they care about bitcoin casino reviews, neteller payment method, blog crap, if they were just looking for some spins at a legit casino.. ?

I'm with Kapitalo on this one. Your best solution is to just have a stiff menu put in place. This will make your website look stable and in the right place too.

Hi there! I've just registered and this is my first post here.

I always hated that kind of sites. It's like the visitor can count the navigation links and he knows how many pages are there. It's very unprofessional.
In my opinion, in case the site has a good number of pages, let say 30+, categorizing them is the best solution. In your main navigation just have "Browse Sites" or "Categories" that on hover or click will show a sub-menu with categories. Every category is a page that lists the posts of that category with cards, thumbnail, excerpts etc. The category pages need to be in sitemap, they don't generate new content but are important for bots' crawling, from where search engines bots will access the rest of your pages.

You're welcome. Yeah, it's something that I like to do too. There a re so many domain names to choose from. I just wish that there were more hours in the day

I'm not a big fan of many pages in a navigation bar in the header of the page, but
you could add a sidebar that runs along the side of the page with all of the needed
sections setup in their own unique categories. Most visitors that land on a page want
the information that they are searching for, or a quick way to find it on the web site.

If the information that they need is 3 clicks from the page that they landed on, then
it's likely that they won't find it.. or they will just check another site for the information.
If you have to structure the navigation with relevant pages being clicks away, then a
search function would also help visitors to just search out what they are looking for.

But how do u guys have your menus made up for the mobile?

I have a huge amount of content on my site but want to keep it clean when it comes to navigation: 4 main categories and a + button to expand / show 3 more itms in the mobile version. Its a fixed navigation bar in the bottom.

I recently noticed that i have many sub-pages with quality SEO content and links that i cud add to the mobile versions + buttons ul list but actually dont dare becouse the question - Can i have more items on the mobile navigation than in the default 1000px + screens "normal" horizontal menu?
Any thoughts / experimental results of that?
