Hi,

I've not done a site yet, but have no problem getting domains, redirecting DNS, setting-up WP.

The things I need help with are:

a) finding a niche or a focus for my site.
b) deciding the language/markets I'll be targeting. My mother tongue is not English, but Spanish, although I'm Asian.

Some notes:
1. I don't really know much about casino games or poker, but I'm willing to learn really fast.
2. worked at a sportsbook as a bookie for about a year, 14 years ago.
3. I'm attracted to this vertical for some reason and want to give it a shot (I have 100% chance of missing a shot not taken)
4. I've read this forum and casinomeister and gwpa, and I've seen many examples, but I want to have some guidance for the initial steps and define the path of action and avoid working hard on a faulty basis.

Thanks for the opportunity and I look forward to your reply.

Regards,

Frank

The best advice is to focus on an area that you have interest in. You said that you
are drawn to this industry, so their must be something about it that interests you.

As a new affiliate, you should focus on an aspect of the industry that best interests
you. You could focus on a type of casino game, sports betting on a particular sport,
various bonuses that are offered, or whatever tends to interest you the most.

Once you've come up with some ideas on what interests you the most about the
industry and what you'd like to begin developing a site around, then you should head
over to the Google Keyword Planner and research keywords for your particular interests
and see how many people are searching for that information in comparison to other
aspect of the industry, or other interests that you may be considering as well.

At the end of the day, it's all about reaching the most people with quality content
that will convert the visitor into a player, and generate revenue for your account.

Develop a site in a language that you are fluent in. English is the most competitive,
so if you are fluent in another language, then you might want to focus on that.

I agree.. You could use your Spanish to gain a huge advantage in a mostly English industry. The key is to be unique, and be set apart from everyone else. I do very well with US casinos.. You could target the Spanish speaking US / Mexico / Puerto Rico etc. market. I have several friends who's parents love to gamble but English not being their first language so they find it hard to use many sites.

Also, I have found you will make a much larger revenue from promoting casinos over anything else.. Sportsbooks, Poker and Bingo can be a great part of your site... But I would mainly focus on casinos if you want to maximize your profit for the work you do.

You can start simple.. A guide to gambling online in Spanish.. how to gamble online / how to play the games / reviews of online casinos for your market.. Start with that and see what it develops into.

I really appreciate your guidance, NDG & online18casino. Those are golden tips.

I've already come up with 5 ideas for further exploration. Most will be in Spanish and a couple others, targeting the industry indirectly, will be in English.

Once things get moving, I'll post some details. Cheers:)

Anything other than English usually has an easier time ranking and getting traffic.

As for niche, it helps if you have a topic within gambling that you enjoy working on. You still want to develop a content and marketing strategy for your site and set some goals. Make sure your site has a value to the users regardless of the topic.

"Make sure your site has a value to the users regardless of the topic."

This is the gist of the matter and a wonderful dream. But reality also tends to catch up with it repeatedly. What do you think, how many sites fulfill this specific requirement? 30%, 35% ... more?

A niche with high quality content is always a treasure. Keep him, polish him, and in the long run you are a winner.

Of course it is a dream but it is just some tips to help the user focus on giving something to the user. Sure most sites don't follow this but not always but sometimes, it reflects in rankings and in traffic.

How is the progress on the sites?
