Hi,

I have three websites under a shared hosting.

All three have the same IP address. Is this bad? Like for Google or something?

Or is it just fine and don't have to worry about it?

Having each website on a difference C-Class IP, has been an ideal thought for years now. However that's up for contention these days. Here's why:
  • Different hosting providers have different C-Class IP's but who owns the actually IP block range. Some companies who own the IP block, have multiple hosting companies, these IP's are all owned by the same entity.
  • Are all sites associated (listed) under a single Google Webmaster Tools/Analylitics Account, are they also associate to a single Google+ account.
I'm not entirely sure how smart Google is but I'd think, if you've associated your websites to one hosting account &/or connected them to you Google accounts, Google is going to know who owns what. If this is the case, then having these sites on different C-Class IP's isn't going to achieve the desired outcome.

Personally, I use dedicated IP's, I refuse to share an IP with other sites, not within my portfolio because I have no idea what these sites are up to. Even with shared hosting, I always request a dedicated IP ;)

I'd be more inclined to suggest you grab a dedicated IP for each of these sites. Unless 1 domain is hosted on 1 shared account and the other domains are piggy-backed on that. Then you'll only be able to get a single dedicated IP for your main domain.

Either solution is a far better option than sharing an IP with unknown sites!

IMO get separate hosting plans for each of them with a dedicated IP for each of them. I do not do this for all of my sites but the majority of them I do. It can get costly so you may want to do one at a time. I am not saying this is the right way or wrong way, I am saying this works for me and IMO is the best way.

FYI - Godaddy has 50% off right now.

I used to NOT share IPs, but these days I don't think it matters as much. 2 schools of thought on that as mentioned above. like Bet4You, I tend to use dedicated IPs. I have 8 IPs on my host and only share on non-related sites (i.e., casino and hotel, not casino and casino).

I have had never problems with share hosting and never with rankings using it! On the contrary!

But you should use for every website different IPs and also IPs from different countries.

If your target group is located in Europe, then you should use domain IPs from (different) Europe (countries) instead of USA, Brazil or Turkmenistan.

If he has no intention to link between the sites I see no problem to have them on same hosting, although shared hosting is the fastest service on the earth :)

I use different IPs for each site, but since I use the same webmaster tools account for all of them I don't think it matters. I don't interlink between them anymore anyway and I would recommend not to.

I do not have much idea about this but I guess same IP for same type of sites is a wrong idea but you may use same IP for different types of sites.

Why search engines favor dedicated IPs over shared IPs? Because of speed or something?

I had dedicated IPs but my shared IP sites kept outranking everything else.. So I have come to the personal conclusion that it does not make a difference. G knows how the internet works, and does not discredit a site because it is on a shared IP. That said, if you are interlinking the sites you won't want them sharing the same IP... Also, if they are very closely related in content subject, you may want to have them on different IPs... Google does not like to give the same site owners multiple top spots.

IE. Two sites ranking for the same keywords = you will want different IPs
Two sites one about slots, the other about table games, same IPs OK (as long as you don't interlink for link-juice credit purposes..)

Good point about sites ranking for same keywords

We it the lack of ipv4 Addy's i think google stopped making unique ips a factor. All it did was helped create the large shortage in ips.

Think of all the CDN's using the same IP addys, In the golden days if a shared server was spamming then others on the same would see a drop in traffic.. Not sure if that still applies..
