I have site-wide links to important sections of my site (navigation) - but I have other site-wide links to other internal pages down in my footer and in the sidebar. These pages are important, but they aren't as important as my main navigation. One is a set of links that go to my online casino reviews.

I also have a section on hotels, lottery, a forum, and much more. My question is - should I remove the sitewide casino review links on pages where they aren't COMPLETELY relevant? or will this hurt my review pages?

Should they be in the lottery section, the hotel section, or should I confine them only to the casino section? (for the casino review links)

"fresh" thoughts are welcome! thanks

Hmm... I know what you mean, BUT... if your surfers find those links relevant and useful, then keep them where they are.

I prefer to put my internal links up more for usability than for SEO. I certainly add internal linking for SEO reasons, but not my main menu links. Those are typically sitewide and there for the benefit of the user.

IMHO, If the links are useful and on topic leave them. I would control the flow of PR though. If a link is going to a converting section then place a rel="nofollow" on the link. That way your pages that have to compete for highly competitive keywords get proportionaly more link juice from your internal linking.

So I guess my real question is how related are different forms of gambling? For instance are bingo links related to casino links? or are poker links related to casino links? what about lottery?

I always tried to cross market them all, but the whole point of this exercise is to focus the different sections of my website - but it's my fear that the cross marketing efforts have an SEO weight to them, too, and if I remove the links then the SEO for those links is damaged.

Or should I just not worry about it - and keep trying to focus my pages (which is really what I'm up to of course) as that is what has me started thinking so hard about this .... "clear hierarchical navigation system" :)

Thanks for the response !
