Just a heads up, everyone -- you must take action and respond to the email sent by bet365 this morning. If you don't update your sites and reply to them by Friday, your commission rate will be set to 0%.

Here's the message:

**********

Afternoon,

I hope you’re well.

We have an important update to make you aware of.

bet365’s UK Opening Account Offer will be changing next week (subject to internal testing). This will be followed by offer changes in further territories.

Details of the new opening account offer will be communicated in due course, however, in preparation for these changes and to ensure compliance, our hosted banners will be changing over automatically to a generic (no offer banner) at 12pm this Friday.

To coincide with this, we’re requesting that all of your bet365 UK Opening Account Offer promotion is removed from all of your marketing channels by 12pm Friday (29th Sept). This includes, but is not restricted to, any banners you have in use that are not hosted by bet365, any bet365-themed backgrounds or wallpapers, any content you have written about the bet365 UK Opening Account Offer, or any references to the offer on social media.

If you are using our current bet365 UK Opening Account offer mobile banners then please let me know so that I can provide you with temporary generic (no offers) banners to replace these.

It goes without saying in the current climate of regulation and compliance, that we need full cooperation from all affiliates on this matter.

Once all specific UK Opening Account Offer promotion has been removed by Friday at 12pm, there will be a 72 hour period where no opening account offer will be shown to a customer via the affiliate channel.

Our anticipated go-live for the new offering in the UK will be circa 12pm GMT Monday (2nd).

Prior to us changing over to the new offering, there will be a small period of ‘no offers’ whereby any player registering during this window will not be formally entitled to either opening account offer. This is the key point compliance wise, where it could be misleading for a customer clicking on any opening account offer promotion, only not to receive it.

That’s why it’s imperative we have a 72 hour period of no offers via the affiliate channel, to avoid confusion and remain within regulatory guidelines.

There are two things we now require:

1. If you can initially acknowledge receipt of this email.

2. Secondly, can you send a further email once all UK Opening Account Offer promotion has been removed – prior to 12pm Friday.

We’ll have no option but to suspend and 0% those affiliates we do not hear from or who haven’t taken necessary removal steps prior to 12pm Friday.

Thanks,

Jon

So if you do not respond, you will be at 0%? Even if you have nothing to do with UK...

Even if you have nothing to do with UK...

I've asked the same to Jon since my traffic have nothing to do with UK (between 0% and 3% on all my websites). Let's see what he will answer. I'll let you know.

So basically we are threatened in some way to remove all content we have created and spent time on? Would it not clearly be enought to write that offer will expire Friday 12pm as banners and links will change anyways?

I am just a bit surprised about this that "everything" has to be completely removed.

All this Gambling Commission "crap" is really starting to get on my $%^"$$^%&&& excuse my language. It is so confusing what are rules like already asked here what about customer not promoting directly to uk players. Same goes with other operators with Dutch etc.

And still Gambling Commission will allow "Rogue" brands to operate its all just to laugh about. while brands who operate and run following guidelines like Bet365 has to obey orders or get huge fines if not.

Not clever at all

PS: Many thanks for the reminder - I got the e-mails, but would have probably forgotten to do it in time!

just to add to my post above. I found this at GPWA. Should help most of you. It does not looks to bad but just make sure you get your AM emailed back to acknowledge even if affiliates gets put to 0% i am sure Bet365 will be reaching out anyways but of course they have to comply with the Gambling Commission rules.

Here is from GPWA credit to Casius14 there > Previous articles for past events are fine to be left as they are, its anything moving forwards and any static pages such as homepages, reviews, ‘new account offers’ and similar that need changing. You’ll need to ensure any pinned tweets don’t contain this as well as your bio and similar on Facebook

I just sent this email to my affiliate manager at Bet365. :)

I acknowledge receipt of this. I know it’s not you but it is really poorly of Bet365 to send this out with only 4 days warning. Surely such a big change would had been known for months and puts a massive amount of stress onto us Affiliates.

Also to threaten with 0% commission is also a very bad move IMHO. And it is being heavily discussed across most big forums out there among affiliates.

I am just feeling sorry for your biggest affiliates who has a massive amount of content etc. It is not as bad for me I know.

I will of course take the necessary steps to remove these offers as requested and update with new ones as well when they go live on 2nd October 2017.

Seen, acknowledged, and already auctioned.
Don't have the mechanism to change everything on the dot at midnight Friday - so did it now.

Replaced their banners with logos - reduced their banner share to zero in mixed advertising - and brought down their joining bonus literature early.

--------------------

Agreed it is a draconian message ...
I expect to see a lot of affiliates culled if they follow through as many betting sites are in a state of disuse - minimal maintenance - aka "set and forget".

I did the same -- deleted all bonus text and replaced their screenshots with ones that didn't have the signup bonus displayed.

It seems like mentioning bonuses in any way at all now a very risky thing to do. Make one mistake, forget one little thing, and you're toast.

I think in the coming weeks, we may decide to delete all bonus text from our sites and focus on other things in the reviews instead.

They left it extremely late to inform that everything had to be removed regarding the sports offer.
Mine are down now anyway.
I will be interested to see what the new offer will be after the previous one being there years !!!

I don't work with them, but only 4 days notice is insane, especially, with the "threat" of 0% if one does not comply.

The UK Gambling Commission is the catalyst here, I get that. BUT surely, alienating partners with "threats" isn't the way to go. As KK mentioned... too bad if your on vacation, and as Bonustreak stated, she was away.

I'm sure the commission didn't give Bet365 4 days notice. Not sure what Government protocols are in the UK, but here in AU, at the very least, it's mandatory 10 working days notice. Though, mostly it's far more notice than that.

I can see this turning into a complete an utter nightmare for affiliates who target the UK market. You really have to wonder if, the UK Gambling Commissions agenda is to try and eradicate the industry of affiliates.

Noting it will be interesting to see if affiliates outside of these markets (UK laws) if they will be forced to comply as well. But seems that's the case.

... and I did not get any replay from Jon. Anyone knows if I have to take of the bonus related text from an Italian website? Italy is already regulated so I think Gambling Commission has nothing to do with it...or...

So what was wrong with the old welcome offer?

A 4-day notice for affiliate partners is a shame, as others already pointed out. I highly value the bet365 brand but this is terrible and I would not have expected this from them.

Plus it's just about sports, not casino. Their mail should have been clear at least. It's dodgy to threat with 0% anyway, but at least make clear it's about UK sport and not about Italian casino or whatever.

Yes - I did a back and forth wit the AM to determine the extent of the bonus offer change as we cover multi-channels for many countries.

It is sportsbook for UK AND Ireland. Casino, poker and bingo are unaffected.
Following this there will be more sportsbook territory offer changes.
