anyone make a million a month?
I have known of people that do but they mainly drive CPA traffic and own a affiliate network and payout a CPA to the affiliates to genrate the sales for them and they take the rev share.

Andy are we talking gross or net?I will be upfront i am one who makes more than $150,000 a month but we spend $30,000 -$40,000 a month on SEO /advertising for our network. That is income from 17 websites with 4 fulltime and 8 part time employees.Everyone knows us as Casinobonusguy but I would never let people know our main moneymaker website .I am sad to say one time I discussed my #2 site with an affiliate and within a month he was targeting all my seo stuff.
How are you going now in 2017? That is the way to do it your SEO budget is about right on. I worked at a few large SEO companies and dealt with gambling related websites. I had to switch sides now because the industry is still growing. I can see you easily doing 50 to 100 websites and 350K per month on SEO with 1.5 M with around 1.2M a month in profit. The sky is the limit if you are good at SEO and paying for quality links and keywords

To maintain 50-100 sites (even just 10 sites) you need a considerable size team and funds to keep the operations running.
I see that large sites often get acquired by groups and networks. I think this is where the affiliate sector is headed, many authority sites will be d by large media companies.
The challenge is to stay alive if you are a "lone-wolf" and doing everything yourself.

I'm also interested how the industry veterans holding up nowadays.
I can still see a ton of old-school sites around with strong SEO rankings and many of these sites don't even have responsive designs.

That last one is a very important lesson. Don't talk too much with colleagues or affiliate managers about how you're doing. If you're doing better than them, they might just copy you. It happened to me too. Got some guy copying basically a complete website.

Very true a lot of those sites I have seen the designs are horrible. To maintain 50 to 100 sites you do need a lot of people. When I was doing sales for a SEO company we I had a guy that generated 157M a year in revenue and was earning 35M a year before spending. He was spending around 500K per month on SEO he had around 100 employees overseas at around 7 dollars per hour managing stuff for him he had 4 managers being paid 50K per year to manage a group of people. Now this was in 2013 and he started with a few thousands dollars for SEO to begin with. I feel like its still possible but you are 100% right most of these portals get bought up that do above 50 to 100K per month. I have seen a ton of portals that have decent SEO that make 8k to 10K per month in about 1 year.

Definitely. I saw a guy on another forum pitch a site for sale that was only about a year old and mainly going after a specific keyword (and a weak one at that) - site doing about $10k a month according to the sales thread. No one bought it but within a month there were tons of clones and rivals set up.

Haven't checked recently but I bet that original site is no longer #1...

This was in another niche btw, but concept is the same.

one thing is for sure.. most of those 50-100 sites which are pretty much clones are no longer to be seen, the last 18 months have shown some massive changes in the serps.. before 20-30 page websites built on old 1998 dreamweaver software were flooding every where.. now they are rarely seen

True. I've known some cases on forums on other niches where people did nothing else than ask for sites for sales, ask details when people offered their site and copy it. Got some sites that are copying almost every page. When I add something, you can be sure, they have in a day or two something similar, based on the keyword they extract from it.

Google seems to be way more volatile than before. I see websites popping up from nowhere. And also sites that were ranking well, almost disappearing. Some sites were ranking mainly on EMD, domain, age and some backlinks. It depends also a lot on country. In some countries old websites are still almost impossible to beat and I've got some markets where casinosites are taking over almost everything. First page they got both the ads and both the search results on some good key words.

Most of the websites where built to target certain niches and specific countries in the domain name and keywords they where not clones but the cost a lot of money at least a few hundred each but the owner did have over 100 employees working for him mostly on SEO but he had high end consultants for web dev. It is still possbile to make a ton of money in the casino industry that is why I got out of selling SEO and all that to casino forums. Totally agree that the old websites that don't have many pages and content are dead.

This thread was started in Feb 2009. I doubt that anybody is currently earning what they used to back then, since so many programs have turned rogue or disappeared, and the search engine algos have changed so much.

I agree but there are still programs out there that are making money this client of ours started in 2012 with no rankings and grew but like I said he was spending a ton of money and had great SEO done to his websites also most of it was international and only about 20% was from the USA he was spending around 350K per month on SEO for over 100+ websites he was making around 15K a month per site after around 2 years also he did not start with 100+ websites at once it was slower growth around 10 websites each month. Search engines do change that is why we had a ton of employees working on his websites around 100 to be exact.

But it is harder to get into now but there is still a ton of money in emerging countries. Also a lot of guys are going into CPA offers and payout more and keeping rev share for the long term on the sale but that cost 5 to 6 figures per month to start out with and you would not get a instant return for a months

It depends. On which market or which niche for example.

I'd say people also build a player base, growing every month. Or people started with live casino niche, bitcoin niche, etc. It depends on so many things. Some people jump in, just when it's regulated somewhere. Others see their income decreasing when it's regulated.

It's flagship-tactic versus not putting all your eggs in one basket. Difficult sometimes.

Can't agree more there will always be money in it in the longer term for sure SEO and building a player base is the way to go i see some people doing email submits too or E books. The industry is still growing just more on a global scale since new people are having internet connection. I think you have to have a niche . I think that work better for sure.

Well, I am officially jealous. I wish I had chosen to be a casino affiliate a decade ago rather than a poker affiliate.

Well, I wish I started an yearearlier. Sounds like it would be enough. The good thing is that, there is always something new showing up on the gambling markets and we still have a chance for finding a niche.

Yes. Someone made a great point recently. Despite all of the consolidation by huge companies gobbling up affiliates left and right, there is still room. The reason being that these large affiliates more often than not fuck up the sites they are buying because they don't understand how those sites brought in and catered to their customers wants and desires.

With each site these big affiliates buy and fuck up, an opening for a smaller affiliate to fill that void is born.

this is why companies like catena media take over the sites including the owners / people working for these sites. they are the long term value. combine those teams, and beef up those sites even more and you can seriously do something very good i think.
besides from that in their takeovers they also sometimes do longer term payments, based on upcoming income, to keep them motivated probably.
