For those of you who rank top 5 on money keywords, how much do you see your rankings fluctuate? Do they move positions monthly or stay static for years?

There is no fixed answer anymore.. depends on where searcher is, what device they are using previous browsing habits, . so many variables..

As Frank said, huge amount of variables. However, once something "sticks" it tends to stay there for a good while in my experience. I'd consider "sticking" as being moved into a position and staying there +/- 1.5ish for a month or more.

How about the latest Google Update? Anyone has been hit?

2 of my smaller casino websites have lost 50% of their traffic, plus one big website that has nothing to do with gambling went down from 2.3K daily to just 2-300.

No major changes were made on these websites so I presume is the latest G update.

There's something definitely going on with google's algo. One day my site has a decent number of pages indexed and is receiving OK trafffic, the next day the number of indexed pages significantly drop, and so does the google traffic.

The equivalent of a tango dance. A few days up, a day down and then a few days up. It was a quality content update but in certain areas it went wrong

I believe certain people reported similar things seen in our niches. My guess would be Google is trying to iron out the glitches.

Overall I'm pleased as it has affected me positively.

This is the reason i started this thread, now realizing Google made one of its ever largest algo updates ever which rolled out Aug 1. It has targeted Your Money or Your Life websites in particular. I've seen a significant drop in traffic. I now see crappy pages with thin content outrank better pages.

Top 5 positions on first page are not changing that often, however anything from 6th place going further can dance as hell.

Very dynamic I think :) But as other colleagues stated, if you reach a top position, is likely that position to stay for a while (maybe 2 months I have seen). But after first page is very very changing

After looking at this for a while a few of our SERPS have been overtaken by competitors. Those that have seem to have been nudged back by sites with less content, but much more authority. So in other words, as far as I can tell, the authoritative sites got a boost on competitive terms.

I call it "Google Dance". Especially when it comes to new projects, one day you appear on first site, second day on fourth. When the site gets older, it will take more stabil places. Truth is, that positions depend on language, position and device you are searching from, but very authoritative sites still appear in front positions. I also went thrue cases when sites with less content, bad link profile and almost none UX were in top positions, I cannot say why, it´s a wonder or something :)

I got a huge boost, actually results are looking much better in general

At the moment, both casino websites are back to normal, one of them seems to be up by around 5%.

The non-gambling website instead remains at +/- 300 daily visitors. Pretty bad as this website was earning around €350 monthly with 10 min. daily work

I dont know if any of you have read this...
searchengineland.xxx library/google/google-search-quality-raters
''Google contracts with over 10,000 search quality raters worldwide to evaluate its search results. Raters are given actual searches to conduct, drawn from real searches that happen on Google. ''

if that is the case content should be more meaningful going forward that just authority giving from have tons of high quality links (without having valuable content)...
