Shared hosting is always kinda slow from my experience at hostgator and godaddy. In later years I am using smaller but more expensive hosts with better servers. If you want speed, it will cost.

I just moved a site away from Hostgator, but for location reasons.. The service its self was always x10 better then GoDaddy.. Hands down, hostgator was a good shared host for me. I also just moved a few sites away from godaddy, and that was because they where horrible at hosting wordpress sites.

I would ask to be moved to a different server and see if that helps.

I had a wordpress site hosted with godaddy a while back. Never again :) HostGator is much better for hosting WP sites.

Years ago when Hostgator started, I hosted a small site with them. However I moved away when I discovered they accepted porn sites.

However 3joker is 100% correct... If you want decent hosting, then you get what you pay for.

Honestly I can't understand why anyone would scrimp on cheap hosting.
If your going shared, then a business hosting package with cPanel and premium bandwidth etc & also try to get a dedi IP. That's what I'd go for.

Granted with the lack of ipv4, these days it's ok to share a IP. However you never know who your sharing it with, hence why I always buy a block of IP's (then again I'm on a robust VPS)...

In beginning i had a lot of shared hosting packages with different companies. A year ago, i started to move all website to one managed dedicated server. Best decision ever!
If you want to stay with shared hosting, check the cloud plans https://www.vidahost.com - fast enough, gambling friendly and a pretty good and fast support.

Vidahost... Now I am showing my age... Knew both the lads who started the company. Sebastian (Seb) and Dominic (Dom). Also an excellent choice ;)

There are also these guys in the AGD approved section: https:// www. affiliateguarddog. com/community/resources/categories/web-hosting-providers.17/

Hit post too quickly on that... sorry.

They are a current host of mine and have been outstanding. I've never had an issue with them at all and they have even installed/configured and done lots of things I requested of them. They have a great 'managed' set of options. Managed means they will basically do whatever you request of them :)

will check siteground. Vidahost and Tsohost are hosted in UK only no?
Yes I believe I read while they are different companies, they share the same datacenter (You may want to double check that).. But they are UK based with no servers in the US..

If you are looking inside the US, GuardDog's option offers a (VPS), fully managed (new) wordpress hosting. But I for a startup wordpress site... I have found shared to work just fine..

Yes Vidahost et al only offer UK hosting. One thing I forgot to mention... If you go with Vidahost and your in a country where VAT is not applicable, then make sure they don't charge it. I had some issues regarding that. I got slogged for VAT, even though I'm in Australia.

I use 123-reg but I"m not really satisfied with the speed. Maybe going to change plans in the future.. Do you guys know any hosting company that is fast, reliable and based in the UK?

Hostgator, Godaddy, Fatcow, tried most of them, if you want performance without the dedicated server price tag I suggest DigitalOcean, never looked back 2 years later
