Hi everybody!

I'm thinking to start a new website. The site format is a blog and the content will be everything related to gambling (betting and gaming), like general topics, reviews(bookmakers, casinos etc.), news, offers, all sort of comparisons etc. As I speak several languages and to build a multiple-language website is not big deal for me, my site will have pages written in English, Spanish and maybe Russian.

Now, what I'd like to ask you all is an advice on choosing a project name (domain name) from the list below:

1. Gaming Opinion (gamingopinion.com)
2. Gambling Front (gamblingfront.com)
3. Hall Of Best (hallofbest.com)
4. QAFG (qafg.org)
5. Buy new one

QAFG stand for Questions and Answers from Gamblers, was planning a Q&A site not so long ago. But it could also stand for Qualified Assistance For Gamblers. Or, even, could stand for nothing, just a short name.

What would be your choice?

Regards

1: Gaming shouts ps4 and xbox games
2: gambling front sounds illegal to me
3: hall of best makes no sense
4: qafg.org - nice and short but whats it stand for?
5: YES! Personally I'd buy a new one too.

Doesn't have to be anything special more brandable would be better that any of those imo. I'd go with a .com if you can but that's maybe just a personal preference.

Sometime Yes but it's the "UK Gambling Commission" for a reason. Be Gamble Aware, Problem gambling and so on.

I'm not telling you what to do. far from it but what you've described is going to take some serious work to get anywhere at all.

Do you not think you could narrow your niche down a little, focus on what part of the sector you know best, then slowly roll it out a bit bigger, another section, and so on.

I'd look for something brandable, unless you have a decent $xxxx budget that is, then you should find something use able.

I agree with this. Just not with the last part. Branding also costs quite some money. Without some serious budget (mid xx.xxx), I wouldn't even try to brand something.

Besides this, difficult to say with the information. Big difference between having a team of 10 full timers and budget or being able to work on it just wednesday evening and during the weekend.

Yeah agree with that, branding costs money, and big money in most instances. Although it's not as hard as it used to be with social media and things going viral. Building a brand is probably for another thread a very long one :)

My point really was to use a brandable domain, not try and build a brand as big as Nike for example. You can build a small brand, something people will remember slowly also. Then when things get moving and you reinvest, you have a base to build a real brand on later if you need/want too.

The term "brand" is what exactly?

I have a site with something I built on it, it's a brandable domain, yet if you asked 1 million people chances are no one would have heard of it, but they would likely guess what it was because it's "brandable". Does that mean it could become a brand in the future? Could be made into a brand?

On a side note, i've got quite a few domains I'll never use, i'll have a look and see if there is anything that could be of use.

Brands now dominate most of the top' 20.. however it's not easy, it takes a lot of work so depending on what you are looking to do will depend on what you need, niche smallish site then quick easy EMD everything else brand that way if you become succcesful you have no regrets on being restricted with the chosen name

I would consider trying to find a new domain. I agree something brandable is the way to go at the minute.

Thanks guys! You really helped me. I've changed my plans and now working on a slots directory. What about "Slotsboro" (.com)!

What is the thinking behind that name?
Makes me think of "Playing slots in Middlesbrough"
What is "boro" in your mind?
