I believe the Panda update is still rolling out.. but, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Penguin soon.

not sure if this is just a temporary glitch or part of this update but I noticed the # of results Google returns for a kw/phrase is pretty low now.

Yes google confirmed the penguin update.
I see a little improvement in traffic for my site, but I think it is to early to be happy.

I've noticed some improvements, across all my sites. Portals which I've spend a lot of time adding content rich text and information. Some of the hacked sites have dropped, maybe it's just not our industry which has been inundated with these hackers. And so G are now doing something about it. Time of course will tell :)

I heard today that it may take another month for penguin to be completed.
Seeing still some improvements on my site, I hope this will stay.

I have seen many of the hacked sites are coming up 404 errors now

Lets hope this is the start of the clean-up process. Which I'll add is way-over-due. Albeit the G alog is huge (I would suspect) but they seem to be able to roll out Panda updates when it suits them. I'm hoping that BIG main-stream sites (those who pay for Adwords etc) have complained to G about these hackings and now we are seeing something done about it.

Awesome to see the hacked sites falling.

It's not a hacked site, but a blackhat competitor of mine finally disappeared from SERPS after 1+ years in the top5 :)

There are still tons of hacked sites and blackhat seo sites in the serps but it seems to be less. On weekends there is always sites with multiple redirects in google news. The mozcast was be low recently but i have a feeling that this is going to a consistant refresh like the panda, unless they unleash a new google animal.

Best Regards

Hard to tell difference between new algo and updates. But Pirate sure does sound ominous...
