Hey Joe I just spoke to the boss who is traveling at the moment, soon as I alerted him to this thread he called me to clear this up. They realize how bad this looks and it was an honest mistake. They have 3 accounts with a similar name as yours, they basically meant to send a mail to one in particular who has a dormant account now for 3 yrs.. The assistant sent to the wrong affiliate. He said he will try to call you personally to apologize if you would like.

I am not saying it is right to send mails like this but if an account is dormant for 3 yrs I can understand a company wanting to know if the affiliate is interested in working with them any longer.

3 months of inactivity is a "long" time? LOL.

Their terms and conditions don't allow them to close accounts for inactivity.

Looks like they might be going rogue... Sad to see yet another program circling the drain.

3 years. (not months)

I don't think these guys are going rogue. They have been solid for a long time, IMO. Can't write them off too quickly.

I don't buy it Christine,

The reason being is the follow up mail stating more reason for the first. Like i don't reply to their mails.

No need for a phone call either but thanks!

This may be many things but one thing is clear, it was no mistake.

I posted my reply above before reading the new replies that came in while I was typing...

3 years for the other affiliate, yes, but Joe's account has only been inactive for 3 months.

In any case, their T&Cs don't have an inactivity clause, so they shouldn't be threatening ANYone with account closure.

It costs literally nothing to keep some extra entries in a database. Databases can contain millions and millions of rows; that's what they are designed to do. Doing a "cleanup" can be done in other ways besides closing the accounts. They can split the database tables if they want, so the inactive ones go somewhere else, but they shouldn't actually "close" any accounts -- unless the affiliate agrees to it, of course.

I agree, mostly. The only time I think the account can be closed is if there is a long time inactivity (yeah, 3 years is fine)... AND there have never been any players signed up.

Then, nothing lost, nothing gained... moot point, IMO.

It's just another of the programs from infamous "Villa Seminia 8". Need I say more?

Thanks for the warning Joe, I will watch them more closely now and remove them from most of my sites if another warning is issued here.

Hi everyone,

We would like to start by clearing out the fact that we are definitely not closing affiliate accounts, we never did and we don’t plan to. We were simply running an internal clean-up for our own internal affiliate segmentation. We manage the accounts based on their status and keep separate tiers for different statuses including a specific tier for those who are dormant accounts. The only action being considered, is grouping the dormant account to a different category/tier; these accounts are never deleted/closed/blocked/deactivated and the account holders can, at any time, access their account and send traffic if they wish.

Regardless to that, sending that email to Joseph was an honest mistake and once the affiliate manager realized, she communicated via email with Joseph to clarify that the account is indeed inactive for a while, but it will not be under any circumstances closed.

We hope this shed some light for those who had a different impression and we honestly apologize for any misunderstandings. Our team is dedicated to serving our affiliates needs and we would like to take this opportunity to let you know that we are always available for any requests or questions you may have.

Sincerely,

GoWild Affiliates Team

I just got and email today which contradicts what you are saying here (understandable as it was not used for long).

One of our old accounts was closed and now we are told another account is about to be closed. In this case an active one.

So either you are not being upfront or you are trying to use scare tactics to try and force us to get your more players.

We dropped Gowild a few years ago because of strongarm tactics.

I have replied to Marian's email.

"We've closed your account and we are going to close another"

I look forward to seeing how that is some misunderstanding.
