Hi,
I recently watched this video about alternative SEO methods.
And I was curious to hear if somebody has actually tried them, if it works and it is worth pursuing.

#1 Edu. Resource Page Link Building
Basically Universities has these resources pages that should help student and faculty. It can be about nutrition, supplement... basically anything useful

Has anyone manage to get an edu link :)

#2 Broken links
Search keywords for the industry you are interested in, visit those domains, check for broken links. If they have, offer your content as replacement.

#3 Wikipedia... Need I say more

Is any of this worth pursuing and doesnt anyone else have anything to add regarding alternative SEO methods?

Thanks!

Broken link building can certainly work if you have a good resource to replace the one which the broken link points to.

Wikipedia is also a possible source of links, which you can add yourself, but it's got to be to something that really makes sense as a page reference. Try getting a link to a page on the best casino bonuses on wikipedia for example, no chance. But say you've got a news article with some statistics which are relevant... much better chance of getting your link to stick.

Never done any Edu link building but can't see there being too many opportunities for gambling sites here. I could be wrong though.

I guess you have spent some time on Backlinko?! :)

There are some good approaches. Most of them are quite hard to apply it on gambling sites.
But they are some practicable ways. Eg. you could write GREAT articles on gambling stocks to get "broken" links from financial sites or you could make an outstanding post about the 10 best Vegas shows 2018 to get broken links from entertainment or travel sites or you could write/buy in-depth content on Probabilities to apply for an EDU resources link. Many possibilities out there. And IMO is a Non-gambling link from a site with Google trust (means has significant traffic) much more worth than a backlink from a gambling source.

A recent comment by muller (I Think) Suggests that most edu links are ignored, broken link building is time consuming and i feel time is best spent elsewhere, and wiki you are 10 years too late, Not sure why people still chase old school SEO ideas, just take a look at the top results and you can see whats ranking, most of the time it is killer content for high comp keywords with a mix od SEO, but focus on building a better website that a manual rater will love or even your reader.. the rest will work out..

#1-- I used Edu sites for link building long time ago. They used t work like a magic but after so many algorithm changes, I think Google became more aware that these back links are not natural.. Be careful with that!

#2 -- Finding broken links sounds like a good idea! Let us know if you try it and if it works! :)
