Received this gem from Giedre Gabrenaite at Betway today, as a result of their piss-poor conversion rate.

I hope this email finds you well?

It came to my notice that your account managed by me hasn’t generated any players in the past three months. According to the Betway Publisher terms, we have to reduce your commission to 10%.

I would be happy to keep your commission as it if you can provide more traffic and exposure.

I would appreciate if you could reply to this email by the end of today.

My reply to the rep is below.

I will now reduce your coverage - I don't deal with blackmail or threats.

I will be reporting this at the relevant forums to warn other affiliates of your actions.

Any further inappropriate correspondence from you will result in a complete blacklisting of your brands and a warning posted on your review pages.

I got one of these a while back, too. Not a great way to introduce yourself, by making threats to steal what was promised to me. I sorted it out with my original affiliate manager (Haris), but still -- NOT COOL.

I suspect they might be having financial problems, otherwise they wouldn't need to reach into their partners' pockets like this.

Betway are a pretty big operator - in the UK at least.
They don't have financial worries, they just think they can screw-over their affiliates in any way they want. After all, what can any of us do about it?

It's the same story with pretty much ALL the big UK bookmakers

"In the event that you fail to refer any New Customers during any consecutive 3 month period, we reserve the right to reduce your Commission rate to a flat rate of no more than 10% of Net Revenue / Net Rake until you introduce a total of 3 New Customers within a 3 month period, at which point (effective upon your referral of the third New Customer) your Commission rate will revert to the standard Commission rates set out above."

If you're struggling to refer 1 new player within 3 months, then why would they expect you to be able to refer 3 new players within 3 months?

It used to be the unlicensed offshore sportsbooks that got all the negative news, UK sites seem to be the worst for both players and Affiliates,
