Australian CDN Issues

Hi,

Desktop PC.

For the last couple of days when playing (BetatCasino), I'm getting random 502 Bad Gateway issues, with the alert of... cloudflare-nginx.

This is happening:
  • When I login;
  • Banking;
  • Loading slot (Gonzo).
I have to do a browser refresh to fix it.

Tonight, it extremely slow now. Taking a good 60 sec for just the casino to load. Unable to do anything because it's crawling along like in mud.

As I refer Australian players, I wanted to alert you guys to this issue as I'm sure it's not good for business.

I thought it was horrid last night but tonight was much worse. That time period was between Saturday 7'th @ 8pm through to 1am Sunday (GMT +10:30). My personal opinion... Cloudflare sucks big time in AU.

It was so bad I used my VPN on a pop in London. That loaded the site very quickly etc without any issues.

I've been using https://serversaurus.com.au/cdn.php, they have 5 pop points in Australia (I believe CF only have 2):
  • Brisbane
  • Sydney
  • Canberra
  • Melbourne
  • Perth
In addition to a further 31 pops located in EU, Asia, US, South Africa and South America ;)

So - just trying to understand here ...

This is a problem in Australia because the tech solution BetatCasino have chosen includes CloudFlare that don't have enough capacity for Australian traffic ?
It affects all Australian traffic unless they use something fancy like you did and route another way?

I just typed BetatCasino.com and got routed to https://au.betatcasino.com/ at reasonable speed from NZ.
But then it is 7:45am in Australia right now - hardly a busy time
;)

Allow me to start by apologize for the delay on this answer, due to an technical issue I didn't receive the notification sent. This issue is now solved and will not happen again.

We investigated the Cloudflare issue reported and our Tech team confirm that Cloudflare encountered network issues in the Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland data centers during that time.

Our aim is to provide the very best possible experience and I truly regret any inconvenience that this situation may have caused. Please accept our apologizes.

Our Tech team have tested the site from a number of locations in Australia and can confirm that the site is loading normally without any issues reported.

But I need to ask you if you confirm that this is no longer an issue?

To be fair, BetAt isn't the only web based casino who use CloudFlare, where I've experienced Bad Gateway issues. IDK if it's a routing issue with CF or as you say Gooner, a capicity issue. All I know is CF is flakey for me. I don't get 502 errors with any other CDN in Australia, other than, CF.

I need to ask you if you confirm that this is no longer an issue?

I played at BetAt last weekend, the site did load fast, no issues there. However there were issues with the banking page either load frightfully slow or worse timing out a few times. Also had some horrid bad packet losses in Gonzo, to the point where the inital spin (drop) would be fine but then a winning line explode and I'd be waiting a good 10 sec or more for the next tiles to drop in.

I've tried changing browser from FireFox to Chrome and also changed from my ISP dns to using either Google public dns or EasyDNS but when it's playing up, nothing seems to make any difference, other than again using a UK VPN, which isn't really a great solution cause (AFAIK) you'd be paying tax on my purchases (due to the UK IP) even though I'm really in Australia.

Obiously the games etc wouldn't be using CloudFlare, so maybe it's a routing issue to where I am in Australia. I guess the easy way for me to narrow this down, is for you to PM me with the IP's to the game server and I can run a tracert to them. Least that will provide you and me with any possible bottlenecks ;)
