This thread is in response to the Best Casino Partner and Casino Blasters icons in the AGD forum.

Currently, even though their terms are NOW affiliate-friendly, we have placed a warning icon -
termswarning.gif
- next to their names.

REASON FOR WARNING:

  • The program had changed their terms retroactively, initially ( occurred on: June 6th, 2008 ).
  • There was a huge uproar in the affiliate community when this happened and they changed their terms such that it was no longer retroactive ( changed on: October 28th, 2008 ) - NOTE they were still predatory terms, but did not apply retroactively to current affiliates.
  • Recently, they changed the terms and removed the predatory clause ( February 20th, 2009 )
While the terms are now affiliate-friendly, they have a history of changing terms to suit their needs.

Suggestion that I like:

Any program that has made the change from an affiliate-friendly program to a predatory one will have a waiting period before their icon changes from
termswarning.gif
to
termsapproved.gif
.

That waiting period should EQUAL the amount of time they kept that predatory clause intact.

In the case of BCP and CB (Best Casino Partner and Casino Blasters), the term was kept in place for 8 months. This means they would have a warning for 8 months.

Please discuss... It will NOT hurt my feelings if you do not agree with my through process (although I admit it was NOT my idea... I just like the idea)

I like the idea, but if your going to do this you might want to think about linking the warning sign to a post that gives an explanation on why you issued the warning.
