Hi Cobus,

I've been getting hit up with aff spam for your casino properties lately. I normally just send them to spamcop.net but it's getting out of hand now.

Although they do contain an unsubscribe link and the address of Carmen Media Gibraltar, I DID NOT subscribe to receive this so I'm not clicking any link to confirm my email address.

Here's the headers and links for the latest one received today:

Hi,

Please can you send me (or PM me) your email address so that I can get you unsubscribed from these emails.

I will, in the meantime, speak to the affiliate manager to get more information from the affiliate.

Thanks for letting us know.

Thanks
Cobus

send me (or PM me) your email address so that I can get you unsubscribed from these emails.

If this is affiliate spam there is no difference from me giving you my email or using the unsubscribe link in the spam.

Either way it tells the spammer the email is active.

Unless of course this is not affiliate spam...But Carmen Media using a 3'rd party to spam. In which case why would Carmen Media spam me when I already hold accounts (all casino properties) under the same email.

These mailers are not for deposit bonuses of existing accounts, they are trawling for new players.

Hi,

This email is from an affiliate, and as you mentioned, there is an unsubscribe link in the email.

As you are already receiving the mails from this affiliate: without unsubscribing or giving me your email address to be unsubscribed, I can't think of another way for you not receive more emails.

Are you serious Cobus?

How bout closing this asshole affiliate's account with you guys!

You do have a SPAM Policy don't you?

That would at least shut him down from sending SPAM for your properties.

Actually, I can't even believe that you said what you did above! WTF was that about?

Hi,

According to the affiliate, he has a legitimate email list and are sending emails that are complying with the spam rules.

Based on the above, we are treating it as such.

Once the email address has been removed and the affiliate is still sending mails to that address, we can take further steps (i.e. closing the affiliate account).

Thanks

So with that said, you are basically calling Dave a liar then IMO since he clearly stated that he had not subscribed to any email list.

We all know about these so called legitimate email lists now don't we bro. ;)

I'm not calling Dave a liar at all - I haven't used those words and never implied that. Please don't put words in my mouth.

The affiliate that is using the list is not out to annoy anyone. In his mind he has a legitimate list. I can find out where he got the list from and we can take it from there.
We have to have a find a balance somewhere in every relationship.

But at the end of the day, Dave has received the email and, in order not to receive emails from this affiliate anymore, he has to be unsubscribed.

Thanks

Like I said... "you are basically calling Dave a liar then IMO"

IMO = In My Opinion...that's clearly not putting words in your mouth although someone does need to put some basic business ethics in your head.

It's no damn wonder this industry is so screwed up with affiliate managers like yourself taking a stand as this and thinking as you are!

This is no affiliate. It's them.
Why would affiliate put this:

If this mail is unwanted please report it to this address
Advertiser Address: Carmen Media, Suite 651, Europort, Gibraltar

And this Carmen Media and Referback have the same address:

Our registered address is:
Referback Ltd,
Suite 651,
Europort,
Gibraltar.

That is NOT the way to take care of these issues!!! Get the complainers emails removed and let SPAMMING continue ... WRONG answer!!!

jpc-ref-eng-gbp.com/mailers/acquisition/en/jpc_500Newb/

jpc-ref-eng-gbp.com/?s=aff106378 <---- if this is an affiliate - contact them and put an end to the SPAM!

Hi there all,

I just want to clarify my position on this matter.

Firstly spam is awful and I fully sympathise with the frustration of receiving spam to what was intended to be a ‘clean’ email address.

This being said referback does have a spam policy which has led to affiliates being closed, however we have to first work with the affiliate in question to determine if there is something nefarious underfoot or if what we have is an affiliate just trying to earn a living who was duped into using dodgy data.

As much as I want to eradicate spammers from the internet I also don’t want to hurt someone who like all of us is just trying to make it in this industry.

This was why I wanted the email address, so that I could request it be removed, should spam continue then I would have some leg to stand on when it comes to having the “hard” spam conversation.

Also we are already working with this affiliate to understand how this list was generated/acquired.

Spammers will not be tolerated as per our policy but I can’t kill someones livelihood for one complaint without investigating further.

Thanks
Cobus
