I've been in this industry (on-off) for nearly 7 years now and one of the issues I'm having of late is affiliate managers who have their own portal casinos. I've started a thread about this issue about a year ago at GPWA and said I'll only work with an aff. manager who has his/her own portal if this person has my own site's best interest at heart.

To me this is a conflict of interest. I've been in the diamond and gold mining business for a large part of my life, just to give an example. A company such as De Beers will not employ someone who has his own diamond mining company since it's creates a conflict of interest with De Beers. I feel the same principle should apply to affiliate managers since it not only creates a conflict of interest with the online casino they work for but with the affiliate and players as well.

I'd appreciate your thoughts on this topic.

TIA.

My big question is: How does one find out if your Affiliate Managers are running their own portals?
I'm not aware of any who are - but for all I know they ALL could be doing it!

I think a lot of them are doing it. To be honest those who do definitely have an advantage over us. The other alternative is to ask them, but then again I doubt if they will tell you if they do have their own portals.

Come to think of it how many ex-affiliate managers you know off now operate their own portals. Just imagine the amount of players they "harvested" over a certain period.

I see where you are coming from but there aren't many affiliate managers who has successfully become full-time affiliates - I am sure they are some though.

I've also seen affiliates work for an operator - I guess it's only natural.

The key is for that affiliate manager to do his/her job properly really and treat their employers/affiliates in the right way.
