Just received this email:

CHANGES TO AFFILIATE TERMS AND CONDITIONS

As part of the implementation of the UK Gambling (Licensing and Advertising) Act 2014 the UK government is now imposing a 15% tax on all of the gambling activities of UK based residents with effect from 1st December 2014. In line with this we have updated our clause 5.3(f) of our programme Terms and Conditions.

This change to our programme T&Cs takes effect from 1st December 2014 and applies to all affiliates promoting 32Red products and brands.

Should you have any questions on this, or wish to contact the 32Red Affiliate Team please emailaffiliates@32red.com .

I think the bigger news is how programs deal with it. If they are taking those taxes from affiliates, then it is another fee that drops the revenue share. That's what people are concerned with. Programs have (lately) felt pretty safe taking 'network', 'admin', and now 'taxes' out of the affiliate's share. That is THEIR business cost. I don't send bills to my partners for the taxes I pay. :)

Gambling taxes are typically paid by player and by casinos... how does this tax differ?

I totally agree with you. In-facts, I think not the casinos typically we the players are paying the tax.

It doesn't!
Operational costs are exactly that, a cost of doing business.

It's as ludicrous as affiliates charging programs development, seo, hosting fees and also offsetting the taxes we pay.

The difference here, programs/casinos hold the Aces, we don't. They have carte blanche to do as they please ;)
