It's that time of year again!
Happy New Year to all readers - but how good or bad was 2012 for you?
(Compared to the 2 previous years).

Please feel free to post WHY you think 2012 was different to earlier years, and WHAT changes you expect to see in 2013...

Cheers!

I got hammered by Google's Penguin update and lost around 80% of my gambling affiliate income, so not the best year for me. 2013 will be better as I've made significant changes to link profiles/pages of older sites and am not dumb enough to repeat earlier mistakes on new sites. I'm already starting to see the benefits, but going from an average of $4k per month to $700-$800 per month in the middle of last year wasn't a pleasant surprise. Onwards and upwards!

Hmm, that bad eh.

Im almost 1 year in, 24th Feb = the big 1 (part time when I can and most of my spare time when work makes me want to quit).

I dont know what Google Penguin is or a link profile??

I can only talk about my 2012 which im very happy with, from knowing nothing to a steady eddy 3-5 a month (not k and these are hard times, I'd of loved to be an affiliate when times were good).

I'm still excited seeing new sign ups each week hoping for that elusive whale, its still fun and dosent feel like work yet.

I can see 2013 being great for us all, with afew hurdles along the way.

The future is bright, the future is roey. (only because I can reflect sunlight off my thinning shiny head, "hmm indoor solar panels for bald people" I'm off to see the dragons to make a mil)

I'm down yet again. 2010 was ok for me, so my numbers in 2012 comparitively are quite staggering :) There was less of a difference between 2011 and 2012 for me, but considering 2006-2010, again.. staggering.

My numbers in % up / % down year to year as I have them:

2006: My first year.. did ok
2007: Increased 7 times previous year
2008: 40% increase
2009: 8% increase
2010: 35% decrease
2011: 65% decrease
2012: 59% decrease

And.. after running these numbers... I just realized that I am back at almost the same exact number from my first year :) The only difference is that in 2006 I started in September and in 2012 I had the whole year to come up with the shoddy numbers.

Those numbers look horrible, do you still promote the same sites from 2006?

2012 wasn't a brilliant year, thanks to google's updates and some affiliate programs closing down or turning rogue. However, I am looking forward to 2013 as I promote more affiliate programs and clean up my link profiles.

ha ha. Some, yes. Not many of the same with so many programs/casinos going bust.

2012 was awesome for me. I don't know exactly how much my income increased, because I just started keeping track of it in 2012, but it was definitely a huge leap.

I started late in 2010, and in 2011 income was all over the place month-to-month, from a few hundred to a few k. 2012 started the same and then the big Google update hit in late April and I got to see what it was like to be on the first page of Google (.ca) for 'online casinos' and 'online gambling' among other good keywords.

In June I had my first 5 figure month and then my income stayed at 5 figures each month for the rest of the year. I couldn't believe the numbers at first, especially in July when I made more than I was making per year at the job that I quit a few months earlier.

For 2013 I plan on just doing what I've been doing, and hope that Google continues to like my site.

Perc, you are doing an amazing job. I continue to be amazed at your site (although admittedly I just look at it Google and steam comes from my ears) joking. Competition is good and my god, you're doing what takes most people 5 years to do in a year.....

Eventually I am going to take a microscope and look at your site, but I get the feeling I'm just going to find amazing content and straight shooting.

GREAT WORK!!!

As far as how we are doing, we were effected by some of the later Google updates... in particular one of our sites which uses an RSS feed and it supplies more content than we do (its good content though so we didn't change that) ... so we did well, making less personally, but have much better staff on hand, hired trusted folks to do social media and are adding people whenever we can. It's turned from a job of designing into a job of managing, but ... whatever it takes.... go with the flow!!

We also have been acquiring sites. I sure wish we had not sold 25casinos.com, definitely should have kept that one.... (although I noticed its gone from the SERPs now)

I've just voted myself, as I have only just finished checking my December figures.
2012 was only 7% down on 2011 - so not toooooo bad.
But it was 22% down on 2010.

I think the continuing problems facing USA players, and the ongoing "financial crisis" in Europe is why my figures seem to be sliding in only one direction. :(
I still get plenty of player registrations, but very few depositors and those who do deposit all seem to be low-rollers.

My numbers in % up / % down year to year as I have them:

2006: My first year.. did ok
2007: Increased 7 times previous year
2008: 40% increase
2009: 8% increase
2010: 35% decrease
2011: 65% decrease
2012: 59% decrease
My own figures (I also started in 2006):

2006: My first year.. did ok
2007: Increased 4 times previous year
2008: 430% increase
2009: 36% decrease
2010: 27% increase
2011: 16% decrease
2012: 7% decrease

For 2013 I hope that my boy (2-year) starting nursery will give me more time to update and improve my sites, dump the dross, push the professional and get things moving in the right direction again.

The guys decreasing are these players on rev share? It's difficult to know without having any idea of the volume of players, 10 players per year, 100? 1,000? 5,000?

I just started in 2012 so I have no figures to compare but 2013 will definitely be a massive growth in revenue.

For my figures - all my players are on RevShare.
I don't do CPA - it sucks!

Ok ^^ so it has to be a numbers thing? Someone sending 1,000+ players per year could surely never see a decrease apart from someone winning a few hundred K? Perhaps if they are bonus hunters etc. but for "organic" type players it would surely be very unlikely.

I'm glad to see everyone is not following in my footsteps :) Also glad to see the poll filling out nicely.. maybe I will put out a newsletter tomorrow to try to get all members to fill this out - would be interesting to see how everyone is doing from a larger pool.

Let's hope 2013 is going to be a great year!

It has been very likely and happened a lot over the last few years.

Vegas Technology pulling out of the industry, or they say so lol. Microgaming stopped players from USA, France and some other parts of the world. Rival casinos went from being okay to a complete collapse for most affiliates.

Also, check the number of programs that have just gone under and we lose all players. There are to many to mention.

I bet I have lost as many rev share players over the last 3 year as I have sent new.

It's always something but still a great living!

Good luck this year everyone!
