A host is a host is a host...
You just want to make sure the server is physically located in your target market and that the server it's self is as FAST as you can get.

I totally disagree with that one lots0
- I can get my host on the phone at 3:42am on Christmas day.
- If I get hacked, my host deals with it.
- If I want a blog setup, just tell them what software and its up usually within a few hours with whatever template I wanted installed.
- When I asked for a discount for paying a full year, they gave it to me.
- They have never been rude, always totally concerned about my account.
It took me YEARS to find a host like this. It was recommended to me by someone at CAP, I wish I could remember their handle off hand.
Mojohost.com is as sweet as I claim![]()

Yeah that was it. You are exactly right. Fatbill. That will be in my memory for another 4 years. Mojohost should give him an affiliate accountwe have a couple of servers there.
You guys are talking about Managed Hosting.
I thought we were just talking about renting servers, you know Hosting...
Managed server outfits are a dime a dozen(IMO), most of them are good, some are execlent.
For the US I like Lunarpages... great service 24/7/365.4
and good prices with no hidden costs and lots of freebees.
Rackspace in the UK is the only way to go if your target market is the UK (IMO).
Ah yeah I see. Good point. I find myself to busy to deal with the hands-on aspect of having my own box in case something goes wrong. Depends on your setup and expertise I guess. This is great because I can just be a webmaster and have the techies take some stuff out of my hands.
I'm amazed none of you guys have mentioned nearlyfreespeech.net which is really a different class compared to all the other hosting companies listed here.
The most notable feature they have is "pay as you go" pricing model. Due to this it is possible that the hosting cost of your site could be $0.01 per month (for a static html site with not much traffic). Either way it is perfect for new affiliates like you, who doesn't have much traffic and doesn't want to pay for the unused resources, which usually makes up a big chuck of the bill at any other conventional host, when your site is small.
Other feature they have is that they are using load-balancing clustering which means if you suddenly get a surge of traffic (you get slashdotted), your site will not go down.
A drawback for whose who are relying on scripts (fantastico) to set up wordpress blogs etc, then nearlyfreespeech.net doesn't offer any automatic scripts to set things up for you, you need to upload your files and install manually.
Other thing to note is that they don't run any e-mail servers so you would have to forward your e-mail to somewhere else if you want to use e-mails for your domains hosted there.
There are many other features that set them apart from other hosts, so if you want to know more you just have to got to their site or read reviews about them.
I've had good luck with 1and1.com and they are pretty low priced!

I use coreix in the UK for my webhosting, have a dual quad core processor server ( Dell 2940 ) with 8GB Ram. I have been with them since 2005. Very good for linux hosting. This server hosts not only most of my sites, but also AGD and a few others. The tech support team are good, but to be honest are limited.
However if you want extremely good tech support then I have to recommend the hosting company Dominique introduced me to. UK Cloud Hosting, UK Cloud Servers, UK Dedicated Servers, UK Web Hosting, Windows, Linux, ColdFusion, .Net, Tomcat, PHP, Reseller
Not cheap again, but their setup is superior to that of Coreix, in that they use a cloud infrastructure and they have specialist technicians. If you ever need tomcat and support for tomcat, then I can recommend them. But they are expensive. I have been working with them the last few days, helping a friend move one of his sites to them and they have been extremely good.
End of the day though, you get what you pay for.
KK good job I read this thread. Send me a PM on the new forum with the details and I'll get that set up for you![]()

For solid, cheap hosting, I use Hostgator.com
They have been great to be over the years and their customer support is second to none.
They also offer 24/7 live chat support which I really enjoy to use as well so I dont have to sit on hold on the telephone.
