Vertigo - AGD Mentorship
This thread is started for the new site that Vertigo will be putting up shortly Thanks, Vertigo for contacting AGD and we will do our best to get you moving quickly.

So far:

Domain - Vertigo got his 1st domain, which will be named once the domain is up and active with content.

Hosting - AGD set up hosting for Vertigo's new domain and the DNS has propagated.

What do do next:

The next step for us it to begin putting together a website, including a custom template so that Vertigo can move forward with this domain. Once some limited content is up, we will get it indexed in the search engines!

Good work so far Vertigo!

Well, here is what's up so far...nothing but a Joomla template I like and have modified just slightly.

Trusted Internet Casinos

I'm sure I'll work with GuardDog on some back end and structure / content. It's a clean slate, so I'll take any and all suggestions.

That's a start. The next step would be to decrease the size of the header image That is just a bit too big. I have a pretty large resolution, but I would think an 800x600 user may not see content until (s)he scrolled.

Let's start by either creating a custom template or modifying the header image. Which would you prefer? If you point me to this template, I can take a look at how it is laid out too (to make sure it will be friendly to your content)

the Template is siteground-j15-62.

I'm up for either modifying that one or a whole new template. There are Pro's and Cons to each I guess.

My thought was to use predone templates to avoid the design end of the site building and be able to concentrate on content. Unless that Template is not ideal for the Affilate type of website.

The header is the default higth that came with the template. I just replaced the R. side image. I thought the larger header may give room for a banner or the like.

Edit: how many people still browse the web at 800x600? I was looking at the stats on my other 3 sites...and only about 3% seem to be at that resolution. The largest percentage are at 1024x768 (33%,) or and the remainder are at higher resolutions.

I design for 1024x768. Not everyone does this, though.

I will take a deeper look at this template and see what I can do with it.

I go for the same as Andy, 1024x768 - it used to be a lot more important to make sure to have it viewable to 800x600. At this point, I assume that most people using that small of a monitor are not gamblers, but I'm sure there are a few that are. However if you find a 800x600 template you like, use it - you might gain a few players that are being left out due to some of us ignoring them. Obviously the more you can appeal to the better. So make sure (And since these are commercial templates, I assume they are) that the site works in all the major browsers. I make my own sites, so I have to constantly test.

Vertigo has his domain and Joomla installed as seen above.

What is 'in the works':

AGD is creating a custom Joomla template and will soon show this to Vertigo in a 'mock up' for approval.

Lol...thanks for the Patience...that's rich.

The amount and quality of help you're giving is well worth the wait. When this is all said and done I'm going to end up owing you and your wife a steak dinner at a resturant of your choosing.

Andy, I suggest the Flagstaff House in Boulder, Colorado - its on top of a mountain with awesome windows and views. It's hosted the Emperor of Japan, Robert Mondavi and others. mmmmmmm getting hungry.

Was one of the best meals I've ever had! and worth every bite! Good luck Vertigo!
