Two H1 tags or one?
Been spinning my pencil on this one for the last week. My new site is almost complete and been debating using two H1 tags, one for the Logo, the other for the main content. Following will be H2 and H3 tags.

The first H1 tag I will use for reinforcing the main focus of the site. The second would be used to reinforce the main content of the front page.

EG,

URL: gamblingonlinebets (not the one I will be using)

Title: Gambling Online Bets Casinos

Logo: H1 Gambling Online Bets Casinos

Main Content Index page: H1 Gambling Online Bets Introduction

Some SEO circles suggest this would be okay seeing how many sites are using two H 1 tags without penalty. But something is telling me this would be a bit spamish.

So I am stuck, two H1 tags or one?

Not if you link one of the H1 tags to an article or article summary on the home page it wouldn't and I can tell you that I have never been penalized for doing that.

It will also give you additional links in the search engines as I'm sure you already know.

Each page should have only one h1 tags, which is the title most oftenly.
You can have two of course, but i don't see it as an extra advantage.

Logos do you mean images?

The pencil stopped spinning late last night. All my sites use only one H1 tag but think I will go two for this one. Hopefully I don't get thrown in the dumpster lol.

Thanks for the feedback!

Two H1 is ok, but not more than 3 of each "h tags" on page.

greek39: The scheme you posted in post #10581 is perfect!
