Default Providing ID Documents to Affiliate Programs

    Whats your opinion?

I have signed up with a few affiliates accounts and all but 1 wants me to send some ID documents confirming who I am for fraud and money laundering purposes. yet, the others are fine with my signing up and having my address, bank details etc.

Some that have not asked me are top of the list in AGD approved sites, so if they are happy, why did this one ask? I have not sent anything yet.

    Cheers

    Hi Scot,

10 years in the game and I've never been asked for ID from an affiliate program.

A couple have asked me to fill out tax stuff which is IMHO is ok.

However keeping in mind the risk of identity theft, it's a worry sending ID to casinos. Much less sending it to an affiliate program with little or no security protocols in place.

I wouldn't...But of course that's up to you.

Care to give us heads up on who has asked for ID?

    Cheers

I don't know where you live, but it may have to do with a fraud ring in that area that was encountered by that program...

I don't think its a fraud ring, but this is what has been said, when I asked.

I wont mention who it is yet, as its not fair if they are doing it right.

    Hello Scot it's John here

[10:17:37] The document is requested by european law to protect the security of both the client and the affiliates

[10:17:53] all betting companies registered in a european country

[10:18:30] should request documents from their clients - companies who fail to do so go against one of the gaming laws of the european constitution

Is this right for a european based casinos?

Yeah, I've never been asked for anything like that either and I'm an affiliate of most of the big European players. I'd tell them to speak to my accountant to confirm my ID and let them know that the accountant would be billing them and not me for his time.

So, who is it. This is very unusual?

Pm'd you the site, as dont want to put it here just yet, it may be justified, but with what you all say it does not look like to.

After a IM with him, it does not sound great, even dissed AGD sites look, Charming, that made me have a go, lol.

He did say he would contact AGD and have a look at getting AGD'd up, so will have to see.

In the meantime, lets see what happens.

I'll respect UKPoker's wishes not to name the site, but for the benefit of everyone else - they're not a big player; in fact, I'm willing to bet 85% of you will have never heard of them. I certainly hadn't.

The thing is, they do have a VERY interesting USP and might be worth promoting. I suspect in this case, their stance is down to lack of knowledge of the affiliate side of the business rather than anything dodgy. I suggested to UKPoker he encourage them to contact Andy and see if he and the AGD team can whip them into shape. They do have something unique to offer - this isn't a standard Playtech, RTG, Merge, Cake or whatever thing so I think they are a little outside the loop.

Please don't PM me for the name. If you want to know, PM UKPoker and it will be his decision.

    Yeah I agree with tryme1

They did not appear to come across too knowledgeable in the affiliate side, and seemed a little surprised that I asked him to have some, I let him know about AGD and at first was little hard to convince to see what it was, but I think I explained it right,

Anyways, I gave him AGD details and he said he will follow it up when I spoke to him yesterday.

As I say, I like the site, I hope they do speak here and get there affiliate side sorted.

    Thanks guys.....
