This may answer my question as to why as the years go by there seems to always only be a handful of long term players playing. It pretty much amounts to affiliates only being used to bring fresh, new players. That is why incentives are not based on revenues generated as would be logical, but on numbers of new players, regardless of value. Once the new players are in the system, they are bought and sold or traded in many cases. This results in affiliates working their butt off to bring large numbers of new players, but never enjoying that actual revenues created by these players.
The affiliate payment bill is just too large for it to be ignored in a tough economy.
