    Default Google and Twitter

Any one else noticed Google (mobile at least) is now pulling tweets into its serps?

I haven't really understood the value of twitter but this changes things quite a bit.

I have not noticed, but I have finally given into the twitter gods and started to work on understanding this stuff. I am slow, it took an earthquake here for me to realize twitters value.

I am a bit disappointed with it in another way - i see its value, but i see it as a huge spam tool, too. since i don't like generating BS content, spam, etc, I am disappointed I have to participate to keep up. more work!

I've turned off the tweets on my sites. I have roughly 20 twitter accounts... I load up my months worth of tweets, and it automatically posts a tweet every 30-60 mins for 15 hrs of the day across all 20 accounts (relevant tweets to each account)

I get people joining me, but it hasn't added any direct monetary value that I can see. I've probably spent more time making money from twitter, then it has actually generated.

When all said and done, I am realizing that twitter is used for impulse reading and more importantly - trending topics (i'll explain why this is important below).

By impulse reading, I mean that people who are looking for a particular topic at the particular moment. It also makes famous people more accessible on a "one on one" basis. No more press release by the agent, or interview by E-taintment... its omg.. omg omg omg.. Ashton Kutcher wrote that 28 seconds ago and I was there for it. Impulse reading.

Trending topics gives you an insight directly, into the vein of what is popular at the present time, in internet micro bursts. We don't need to wait for google and yahoos reports to see what the most talked about topics were anymore. Twitter can deliver that to you as it happens, because everyone is talking about it as a collective.

This is important to marketeers, because if you are like me... when you see a topic which everyone is talking about, for that moment in time, it could be a 8-12 page website worth building around and sticking up some google adwords. 200 websites making $100 a year, at a cost of $8 to the registrar.

The most successful twitter account which makes money across all the marketeers I've met and spoken to... is a funny t-shirt twitter account. Twitter directly generates $200 a month in sales for them.

Look to be honest..I don't thinkTwitter is that important tool for site optimization or even getting any kind of traffic. Still i don't know Google has opted to get all tweets indexed in its search engine.

I think this will let increase the spamming and is not anything for anyone.

I agree 100%. This will definitely increase the amount of spam. And the amount of non-sense showing. I'm not sure what the purpose of showing twits is on Google.

I can't bloody stand twitter to be honest, though I do realise and appriciate the importance. Its only value though in my opinion is to marketeers and to celebrities as it does make them alot more accessible and puts them in a better postion to get their message (spam) across. What I really cannot understand though for the life of me is some everyday guy joining and expecting people to actually follow. The other day I actually over heard some stranger say to another ' hey, why dont you follow me on twitter ' !!! what the smeg!?, who wants to follow a mate on twitter to get one line updates on how cute their cat looks right now or what they are eating for breakfast!?

Yeah, I finally "understood" Twitter after an earthquake near us. Real people on the ground can get out the word quick about a specific topic without a website, and post links to real information - quickly. In nations where the gov't is out of control its a great tool for organizers, protesters, etc... I finally "like" twitter - I just don't think its a marketing tool. (we just want it to be!)

    tweet, twit lol

Right now it is still a good tool to use especially if you can automate it and link to your website for recent posts. I think twitter also adds to some link juice to your sites as well.
