Sorry to double quote you, but I MIGHT HAVE MISSED YOUR GROK
You nailed it, really.
And that is the way it is. These guys who have had special privs on google can wave their big google seo d*cks in our face all day, tell us how it is going to work, tell us about their insides and insights and in the end we are ALL just a bunch of monkeys like we were at day 1.
Hey you i read the stats, this thread is organic and you kept it in house. Opoenm tyhis discussion please, it is organic to AGD
Getting this (slightly) back on track, for a ridiculous number of years I have been telling anyone who'll listen that Google is the most evil site on the internet and that their "don't do evil" slogan is the definition of irony. I've bored people to tears about it and noone gives a shit. Why should they, I guess? If I was someone else and I worked outside computing and only used Google (the only search engine in the world, I'd assume) to search for stuff then I'd probably be pretty happy with Google and I certainly wouldn't listen to some paranoid geek banging on about Google being bad when all I want to do is search for sports results and donkey porn.
Others would argue Facebook is worse. Either way, Iīve decided to ease off my animosity towards Google. What's that phrase about recognising what you can and can't change? Itīs not healthy to hate a website![]()

I don't "hate" google. I just can't bring myself to hate an algorithm...
But, I am not going to participate or join the crowd when it comes to google.
I too have been accsued of wearing a tin foil hat when it comes to google. But the facts are the facts... They are tracking people in more depth than has ever been possible before.
And I find that when people realize that what they search for is tagged directly to them and not anonymous... they do perk up and listen.
Most people search for things that they don't want anyone to know about...
They expect the searches to be anonymous and are upset when they find they are not.
xecutable, you really hit the nail on the head. When big corporations can buy Tens of Millions of dollars worth of adwords a month they can dictate to google, just like google dictates to the webmasters... Do this, Don't do that...
Last year Walmart had a $580 Million Dollar a year advertising budget... A big chunk of that 580 Million went to google.
So how is a mom and pop going to compete with that... their not.
Last week google decided to encrypt referral data from logged in users.
This is huge move against small websites and organic SEO.
Along with, geo tracking that can't be turned off... Google is now showing it's long term goals of controlling all the financial transactions and advertising on the WWW.
Here is a video and story from webpro news... very interesting bad news for all of us...
SEOs Not Buying Google
Hey Lots0
My developer said that Maps for Google are only charging after 20,000 queries per month. Just saying... that's a lot. Seems like if anyone has to bite the bullet here its the bigger peeps. Mom-n-pop sites should be okay.
correct me if I'm wrong. Just passing the information.
You get the first 25,000 hits per day free, and then it's $4 per 1,000 impressions. It's actually quite reasonable.
FAQ - Google Maps API Family - Google Code
25k impressions is nothing for an 'active' site.
and IMO $4 for 1000 is an outrageous amount of money to charge.
If you get 50k impressions a day it costs you $100.00 a day.
FYI - when speaking about mom and pop websites I am not talking about sites that don't get any traffic. I am talking about sites that are non-corporate, small business.
For my non-gambling site that used to use google maps gets 150k impressions a day... That would cost me $500 a DAY just to use google maps. The sites total profit is only sightly over this amount. So if I used google maps I would not make any profit at all.
Reasonable... I don't think so.
Invasive you bet they are... Do I still think google sucks... even more than before...
Funny side note: I do have to admit it is very funny to me how scared some people are of google.
