    Question C-Planet conversions

funny this came up. Just last night I was trying to figure why my conversions have been so poor this year compared to last year,

although they did ban 10 players, some being the better depositors. Depositors are still 10% of signups which seem to be what I
    usually get with most programs.

    Jan 1st 2010 to May 20th 2010
    clicks:3776
    d/l:128
    signups:96
    dep:8

    same time frame last year

    Jan 1st 2009 to May 20th 2009
    clicks:3596
    d/l:372
    signups:337
    dep:33

    Any thoughts?

Interesting, but we really should not hijack this thread. Maybe one of the mods will split this off for us.

    I split the topic.

C-Planet conversions are down for me, too.

    Jan 1 - May 21, 2009: 162 clicks per new depositor

    Jan 1 - May 21, 2010: 263 clicks per new depositor

BUT, conversions are down for CWC and Mainstreet as well, for the same time period.

    CWC:

    Jan 1 - May 21, 2009: 168 clicks per new depositor

    Jan 1 - May 21, 2010: 233 clicks per new depositor

    Mainstreet:

    Jan 1 - May 21, 2009: 198 clicks per new depositor

    Jan 1 - May 21, 2010: 264 clicks per new depositor

    Must be an RTG thing.

I don't have a years worth of data from CP to go on.

But I know that across the board I have seen a decrease in my conversion rates. 1 year ago I had an overall average conversation rate of ~5.5%, now I have an overall conversaion rate of <2%. I believe the decrease is due to a lot of factors.

KK - It's not the traffic. It's the conversions.

That is also a five month block of time slotplayer is talking about, so in actuality it is really less than 700 clicks a month.

To be honest, I don't see how anyone can make a living in this business on less than 10,000 impressions a month, unless they are getting some seriously good conversions.

I did have Paul at C-Planet tell me he had one aff that got one deposit for every three clicks and only about 20 clicks a day... Now that is a serious conversion rate, that I would LOVE to have.

    ****

    Back to falling conversions.

Have any of you ever used google's website optimizer? It is a really cool tool that allows you to temporally change your page (without loss of ranking) so you can test your call to action, page design and general marketing.

I have found by using the optimizer that just moving a link to a different position on the page can raise or LOWER clicks by as much as 800%...

Rewording JUST the anchor text on a link can change clicks even more than that.

I guess what I am trying to say is that... If your conversions start falling, it may well not be the casinos fault. There are so many factors involved in getting someone to click on your link.

Slow page speed will drop conversions like a stone, so will a 'bad' page color, the incorrect or mis-spelled wording or just a page design the visitor does not like, an ineffective call to action will kill conversions faster than greased lightning.

I look at it like this.
    1. The casino wants conversions/depositors as bad as you do.
    2. It is very easy to catch a casino if they are shaving depositors.
    3. If a casino gets caught shaving depositors.. the are DONE in this business.

So only a real dumbass casino manager is going to shave depositors.

So IMHO, if your conversions are dropping and you don't know why... Start at home first, then after you have eliminated any conversion problems on your site and deposits are still falling... then look at the casino.

It does look cool I have to admit. The thing that put me off using it was the fact that you have to add Google Analytics to your site, and I have never been convinced this is a good idea on a site that is ranking well. In fact there is speculation that the Caffeine infrastructure (and now algo) changes are factoring in GA data.

    -------

On the OP, I had a similar signup/depositor % ratio last year and this year - no obvious decline - but it was closer to 6% (because most got sent from a free slots site).

Low traffic = low chance of any conversions.

I actually had a look at my stats with C-Planet for the exact same 5 month period and all my fugues are actually LESS than 1/10th of Slotplayers...

I think I need to learn some SEO...

You don't have to put GA on ALL your pages, at least I don't think so, just the page you are optomizing.

Low traffic = low chance of any conversions.
Not really. You must have missed the story about 20 clicks a day.

It more about what keywords you are targeting and your marketing plan. If you only get 20 clicks a day and convert 1/4 of them.. your kicking ass my friend.

Gave this program a try and have noticed low conversions also.

I'm use to seeing 1/10 new depositors to signups. Wondering if maybe there is a delay in stats regarding new depositors, or if there is a problem with processing US cards?
