I just got done watching it also... was going to post about it, but you beat me to the punch.

This is a really good video. Nice broken accent, JT. Well worth the listen to. It's too bad JT couldn't get to an executive to talk with about this THAT would have been awesome.

I do agree with MGS being just being the software provider.
I do agree with MGS not holding the player funds.

When a licensee signs up with MGS, they must meet a number of strict requirements to become a licensee. Its not a walk in the park.

The problem occurs, when a company changes hands. And the new company is unable to meet its requirements, and starts down a slippery slope by using player reserves, then starts shafting players and advertisers.
eg the gun was in responsible hands, but when it changed hands, thats when the problems start.

I understand what everyone is saying, but I dont think MGS should pick up the tab for players losing money, or advertisers losing money.
I know that MGS does contact its licensee when they start seeing problems, and if they aren't able to meet obligations to MGS, they are eventually shut down.
And I think there lies the problem for us really, they are more concerned about their obligations being met (monetary) then concerns of advertisers and players.

If MGS was supposed to cancel contracts with casinos who have problems with their rolling reserves, I think you would see more casinos shut down.
We just down know how many casinos out there have eaten into their reserves.

We just live in a world where we think everything is rosy, but we really dont know how close a casino is to going broke.

Well Herd, I think it's stupid of MGS not to compensate players & affiliates. They don't have to do it out of altruistic reasons, they just have to look at their long term earning potential.

MGS has a big incentive to safeguard the reputation of the platform, as it directly influences ther bottom line in 3 ways:
- Willingness to play by players
- Willingness to promote by affiliates
- Willingness to pay by casinos

The only way it makes strategic sense do to what MGS does (i.e. nothing) is to assume that players, affiliates and casinos don't care about platform reputation.

I do agree with you that MGS could build a lot of good will out there.
But after all that has happened, when you talk to advertisers and players out there on who has the best games, and has the best earnings potential when the US opens up - most will say MGS. Even after all they have done.

888 was rogued for its tactics, we screamed at PlayTech, yelled at RTG about it not caring what its biggest operator was doing, but MGS doesn't seem to get the same long term blasting.

I can understand why MGS hasn't paid players and advertisers. A purely business decision. They decided that the 4-6 million owed was too much for no immediate return when they can use that money to acquire new players in emerging markets.

If MGS did pay its operators mistakes, it sends a message to its operators, that we will fix your mistakes, and you as operators will be ok.

When Tusk went bankrupt, a liquidator came in and liquidated its assets. From those liquidated assets, the Directors of the marketing company pushing the Tusk casinos were paid first. Yes the people who were essentially running the Tusk casinos were paid first for loans their marketing company might have made to Tusk - yet the drove it to bankruptcy.

I know of a particular advertiser who is owed about $2mill from Tusk, and then you have player balances on top of that. I believe casino player balances were looked after, but not the poker player balances - some losing around 250-500K.

MGS could've paid all this out, they could've worked out a way to do it, but the $$$ outlay was something they weren't willing to do.

Be carefull. I know from personal experience that some of those boys at mgs play dirty. And I got a feeling you didn't make any friends at mgs with that video.
