Yesterday I couldn't even spell affiliate and today I is one :)

Best advice would be to read around the forum here and also the GPWA. Plenty of good people and programs out there to help.

Good luck !

You have come to the right place, as for how good the income is, how long is a piece of string, I know this is vague and not what you are looking for but the income between affiliates varies from pennies a year to multi million pound affiliate companies, generally you get out what you put in and the harder you work the more profitable you will be, like a lot of jobs in life so it's definitely not easy money.

How to start... decide what area you want to be an affiliate in, as you are here I am guessing casinos? If you already know SEO then choose a domain, an idea for a site and start working, good luck :)

As per the posts above - just go with what you know and like best.
Over the years I tried hard to get Poker, Sports, Bingo and even Rummy traffic - all a complete waste of time.

I AM a near daily casino player and so I DO know a LOT about casinos and slots - that's what I focus on, and that's how I am now self-employed.
Took about 2 years to get going though, and I generally work 7 days per week - there is no "easy money" to be made in this business any longer.

The best way to get started, is simply do. Pick a domain name (put a little thought into what you wish to target, then pick), set up a simple hosting account, throw word-press on it and start turning out articles. Once you get that part out of the way, your on your way.

Then keep in mind that it will likely take a good 4-6 months to see any results.. Most sites get standboxed for a short while.. But if you can make it through that period and keep going, it can be well worth it.

Thanks...yeah I know some of what I asked was a bit duh...but it's nice to just get an idea before taking that step forward to go in...;)
And yep I know everything takes work...and of course time...;)
And of course there is no such thing as easy money...
Thanks for the tips though...;)

Hi all

I'm also new to this. I'm looking for some advice for uk betting affiliate so please point me in the right direction. Me and a friend have designed a mobile app, and will be looking to earn revenue, we already have contacts with affiliate managers at some of the UK bookies. We both work full time and plan to do so until we,hopefully, earn enough to give up.

The advice I need is whether we need to set up as a business? Do we have to pay tax on earnings? I'm guessing we do as we will be providing a service but as gambling in the UK is tax free does this include revenue being an affiliate?

There are plenty of apps out there that do the same thing such as footy accumalators, GTYO etc.

I've found it hard to get any advice!

We are looking to submit the app to Apple very soon, it's taken a year to develop and now need this advice.

Very grateful if you could help or point me in the right direction.
many thanks

I don't do betting or apps (I don't even own a smart phone!) - but I can answer some of your questions:

You definitely have to pay tax on your earnings - but of course, that is net earnings after all your expenses are deducted, so you likely wont have to pay much, if any, until (if) your service really takes off.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think you only need to register as a business if your income is high enough to make to liable to pay VAT.
"You must register for VAT if: your VAT taxable turnover is more than£82,000 (the 'threshold') in a 12 month period. "

Be VERY, VERY careful who you chose to affiliate with - most of the big UK bookies have VERY affiliate unfriendly terms
Read ALL of their T&Cs, and look out in particular for NCO and Quotas - try to negotiate deals without these two things if you can.
It is due to these terms that I don't promote Will Hills, Victor Chandler, 888, etc.
And although I signed-up when I was a naive newbie I would also recommend avoiding Ladbrokes, Bet365, BetFred, etc.

Thanks for your reply, very helpful. Taking it one step at a time but will see how things progress.

Thanks for the heads up re: terms I will need to look closely at that.

Any other things to look out for?
