Using a non-gambling site with good traffic to promote casinos?

Hi

I have a smartphone related site which gets over 10,000 daily visits. 50% US, then mostly other English speaking / western countries. I'm thinking about using my sitewide leaderboard ad to promote casino sites as I think the RPM will be better. My questions are:

Does anyone have experience with casino banners /ads on a general site?

What are good affiliates for a site with global visitors? Or is it better to do geo-lookup and run multiple ads?

I have 50% smartphone visitors. Anyone know of high payout mobile App affiliates or something that might suit my audience (site is not mobile optimised or responsive though) ?

Thanks for your help in advance!

I don't promote to USA traffic so I'm not much help there. BUT not knowing the industry, with all the ins and outs... even us seasoned gaming affiliates (I've been in it 14 years) are getting burnt these days. The industry isn't the cash cow it once was. It has become super cut throat, not to mention, affiliate T&C's for new affiliates, are imho unfair. You could be sending players to a casino and the casino is shaving them and you probably wouldn't know. Or they could be up to some other trick and again you'd be clueless. Nopt trying to dishearten you BUT not telling you how it is, I would feel would be doing you or any new affiliate a disservice.

But if you still want to give it go, by all means be my guest :)

I'm sure if you made commenced a thread asking for well trusted affiliate programs for USA etc etc traffic, you'll get some responses, from members!

Thank you Bet4you, I appreciate the honesty as it may save me a lot of time and effort... but is that the general feeling in the community?

Have I missed the boat? And what is the point in this forum if things are so bad?

Very interested to hear counter arguments.

The big issue is your traffic quality in relation to gambling.
What is the nature of it? Are they spenders or are they looking for free apps?

Are the interested gambling?

In most cases the traffic from non gambling sites is horrific for conversions because the traffic is completely un motivated and alien to gambling. They are on your based because of the search term that brought them there.

You haven't missed the boat. Plenty of fish in the www sea. If you have that much traffic, then you simply need to determine what that traffic is looking for and try to give it to them. That may be a banner, it may be a text link, it could be a free game on your site. Figure that out and go from there.

I think you will be better off displaying a banner for a CPA offer for a free iPhone/iPad etc, or a voucher for Best Buy or even a CPA offer for game/software installs.

My 2 cents :)

Thanks all for the replies. All makes sense.

Game installs sounds like a good way forward given that it's a mobile site. Does anyone know where to start on that side of things?

If the traffic is there, and it won't cost you anything to add a link, then statistically speaking, if only 1 visitor per 10,000 signs up, then it's worth it. Game install sound like an excellent idea. Hiring someone to code a game might be worth it, but I'm not sure how much it will end up costing you. I had a very basic greyhound racing game written for one of my sites years ago and it cost me $500

You can take a look at peerfly.com and search for game installs offers or email/zip submit offers. Try 1 offer per week and see which has a better conversion for your site.
