Hi all,

So reefmedia have been trying to contact me regarding a partnership. Why do people sign up to sub affiliate companies, what's the point? After all I already promote half their brands.

Apparently I have an account manager and are receiving affiliate news letters, wtf.

The point is they may be able to get a better rate by aggregating lots of smaller affiliates together under one big account. So you might get a higher commission than you otherwise would.

But then you have to trust that 2 parties are now not shaving you. And based on a reconciliation I once did with an affiliate program and a 3rd party we were using at the time, the intermediary was shaving us. So I have a no intermediaries policy (and a "no reply to spammers" policy too!).

I think that's generally the best policy - if you receive unsolicited email, just ignore it. And if you get it again, spam the domain.

If I replied to all the spam, sales and recruitment emails we get I literally wouldn't have time for anything else.

I agree this is such a waste of time, in this case i replied because i was with them when i promoted poker and until this day after having my account closed they are still spamming my ass on several of my domains and personal email this is not admissible behaviour

I would never recommend anyone sign up with a sub affiliate company. You can negotiate and then renegotiate your terms before and after you sign up on your own.

Example:

"I am currently signed up with XYZAffiliates and they are offering me a lifetime 40% RevShare deal (and/or other terms). If you would be able to match that or something similar I would love to work with your brands. "

^That has always worked for me.

Stay away! But it sounds like you already know to do that :)
