Hi everyone,

Im new to the forum so sorry if not posting at the appropriate place \ appropriate manner.
Lately I have been working on establishing an affiliate site, and during my research bumped into this forum. Really great stuff in here, so first of all I would like to thank u all for that!

After that, let's move on to my questions:
1. I have seen many threads warning about affiliate programs\operators working with hackers. Could u please explain the meaning of this action, and its influence on me?
2. Are there ways to completely remove the threat of fraud by the operators (false disputes on players I lead to their site or the amount of money these players lost). Is working only with operators which use 3rd party affiliate programs (such as Netrefer) enough for that matter?

thanks,

Alon.

1. Doesn't really have a DIRECT impact on you, except these "hackers" are casting a bad light on all the honest, hard working affiliates.

2. No. This business is based on trust; there is very little any of us can do to ensure we are not getting ripped off.
I only deal direct with operators - never through a third-party.
If I feel I can't trust a program at least 95% - I dump them.
That is why this forum is such a great place for newbies - us guys who have been around a while have a LOT of experience to share with new-comers to help them dodge the rogues!

thanks kk

As for answer #2 - why do u find it safer to deal directly with operators? isn't 3rd party program meant to be objective?
And also, dont u work with mr Green for example? I understood that they r very reliable, and they use Netrefer...

I didn't actually say I feel safer dealing direct - but that is a point.
Having a "middle man" between me & the operator means even more people to trust.

But maybe that's not what you meant?
Mr.Green use the Netrefer software for their stats - but I am dealing DIRECT with them.
i.e. I log in at MrAffilate.com - not at some 3rd party site.

BTW, for me Mr.Green have been totally useless in converting players, despite my best efforts. :(
But that's a different subject.

I think the Mr Green market is completely saturated. They are everywhere. Not sure I'll ever get any conversion from them either.

What kind of software/stats system an operator uses doesn't matter (some are anoying, but it doesn't make a program rogue in my opinion).

Mr Green, don't get me started, have been trying to get enough to get a first payment, which is only €100,-. I earn like €1,- a month, for months now, LMAO.

Regarding your second question, there are some actual 3rd party affiliate networks that have gambling offers (not to be confused with a casino that uses 3rd party software). You still have to trust someone though, and a 3rd affiliate network can screw you over just as easily as a casino could. The only way to remove trust from this equation is to have your own casino... So either go do that, or do as much due diligence as you can and never rely on just 1 or 2 brands for the bulk of your income.

Funny enough Mr Green converted terribly for me too, wonder why that is, their branding etc is well done but it doesn't seem to help.

Thanks a lot for your replies!
So, I understand that I should focus my efforts on checking the operators beforehand. Is there any other option to do so, but searching this site and reading the operator's terms&conditions thoroughly?

..at the end you have to trust the affiliate manager/program (directly or through a 3rd party service).

The most important thing for me is the services they supply to me as an "affiliate"(fast payment + better commission deal etc) or to my "players" (bonus/promotions + fast payments etc).

Sometimes you have to risk and test something new btw :)

1. Doesn't really have a DIRECT impact on you, except these "hackers" are casting a bad light on all the honest, hard working affiliates.

If the OP doesn't have a site setup, it wont affect him BUT it's doing a LOT more damage than you've stated.

Before a hacked site becomes full of doorway pages, it's injected with pages full of random text, which is "scraped" from the contextual copyrights of hard working affiliates. These pages use keyworded phrases as their file names. When these "hacked sites" rank in G on page one, and more times than not, above the scrapped stolen content, the site is then flooded with doorway pages.

Then there's the random links being added, pointing back to affiliate sites.

These give the "hacked sites" credence but also give the sites they point to negative SEO. If an affiliate's site is lacking authority, these links (100's of them) can have a devistating effect on their SERPS.

It's why people like The Pogg, Vladi, myself and others are closely monitoring in-bound links. And if need be, using the G disavow tool.

been stuck at €298 at Mr. Green - Geez, looking at the date its 2 years this month since I had most those earnings. Been on the list to pull them for a long time now.

only 10 sites can occupy the first page of the Dancing Queen so if its all hacked sites it effects us.

100% agree mate :)

Was saying in another thread, got spot 9 and 10 for some nice Rival serps but 1 through 8 are taken up by hacked sites :(
I think that's a similar status qou for other folks.

What really annoys me in all of this... As Vladi pointed out. The same programs who have worked or are still doing so, refuse to hand out the details of this hacker (stating privacy policies). Yet these same programs share/trade or even sell our details or AM's taken them and contact us later.

Clearly our privacy amounts to zip BUT here they ALL are protecting criminals

I think the only way to succeed is find another marketing strategy which doesn't rely on G.

What Rival SERPS are being taken? I didn't see any when I looked just now.
