Difficult market.

First of all, the really good AM's are spotted quickly and get offers from other programs. As a lot of them are living in Malta... it's literally a small world.

Besides that, gambling industry attracts a lot of fortune seekers. Not just the game floor, but also the casino office itself. It's interesting for young people to start with this job, especially if it's abroad. It's like an adventure. Many of them sooner or later realise that it's not their thing and they move on.

And then there's the carousel of 13-in-a-dozen AM's. They're not good in it, but they got the experience and they like their job. These guys are jumping from casino to casino. Usually, casinos that are as random as they are. You see them every conference, but every conference working for different casinos. Usually, casinos that work for a big part on a commission basis, so they jump from boat to boat. Even if they're good, they won't earn if they're paid on commission and the casino simply isn't converting and/or keeping their players.

My 2 cents: don't waste too much time on them and always put deals on paper. When a deal is important and good, I ask for written approval of somebody that has the right and power to do so. I don't want to enter in discussions after deals are terminated, because affiliate manager X that is now at another casino, made a deal that he wasn't allowed to make.
