Right time for a rant, I am sick to death of landing good affiliate managers that I get a great rapport with for them to leave.

This is pissing me right off, thinking about working closely with one or two rather than the 6 I focus my wasted energies on.

Happy Monday

Couldn't agree more - happened to me so many times and the new ones (usually) have no idea what's going on

Hmm it's a shame, I was having a couple of minor issues with Betway which today we have ironed out and believe we will make money together now.

Just frustrating to build good communications with a couple of others then they leave and now if got to go back the headache of making sure I'm on the right Rev share % and explaining how my business works etc.

First job tomorrow is to ring around them all and ask them how long they have been in there current roles.

Well good luck with that!

I have just dumped Betway TODAY for being a totally useless waste of web-space!

It's part of the business I guess. Especially in places with lots of companies such as the Scandinavians, Israel and all the Offshore place. I think in those places the average AM job-cycle is less than 1 year.

Yeah, I don't think this will change anytime soon

I'm not "sick to death of it" but I am aware that it happens and is always going to happen every 18-24 months.
People jump jobs on a regular basis as they try to build a career.

And this is why I do not work for ANY company simply based on the relationship or feelings for an Affiliate Manager - as they are a temporary fixture.
The company must be right - their reputation, their processes, their procedures and their activities.

It's hard for AMs when I tell them this face-to-face, but it's not personal, it's business ... and I am likely to be doing business with the company LONG AFTER the AM leaves.

What was the issue mate?
OK, my Betway history:

Started promoting them in 2008 when they were a stand-alone operator.

In March 2011 they were absorbed into the Palace Group (Wager Share Affiliates).
Back then, the casinos in their group were not bundled and there was no NCO.

In November 2013 everything changed - They split Betway & Gnuf from Wagershare and became Betway Partners - and made 4 very major negative predatory changes:
Casinos were then Bundled.
They retroactively introduced NCO.
They added a clause where commissions were frozen if you did't deliver 1 NDP in 3 months.
They moved all my UK Spin Palace players to "Spin Casino", where surprise, surprise - they all stopped playing.

Because of my existing player base, I felt obliged to carry on promoting them or risk losing all future commission.
After that, income just slowly dwindled to scraps, and in fact has been $0 for the last 8 months!
So I gave then the long overdue size 10 up the jacksie! :p

These guys really are very bad news for casino affiliates - unless you are massive and can send lots of good value players.
But even then, with their history of retroactive changes, would you really want to take that risk?

Thanks for that, well I'm very close to hitting the £600 threshold which has accumulated over the past couple of months so if all goes well and I'm paid etc then I'll continue.

The NCO is a bug bear of mine too but it's not just with Betway however when the programmes claim that this is enforced to make things fair on both sides then I think 50% Rev share should be a standard deal!

That is actually fair for both parties IMO

I think the AM role is a turbulent one.

The good one's get spotted quickly and get offered jobs almost daily that pay better so the temptation to move is great.

Those that thought they can do it tend to realise quickly that they can't or find it boring and move on or get pushed on.

It's also a results driven job, if the results aren't coming in, something has to change.

From my point of view if you find an affiliate manager that's been in a role for a while then generally speaking there must be something good about that role and the manager.

I think EVERY position and industry has high turnover these days. Nobody seems to stay at the same gig their whole life anymore. We're in an up-word mobility industry and times. A handful may be treated poorly but most are just trying to climb the ladder (my guess).
I'm not sure what that says about us. We've had the same team and only 2 affiliate managers since 2006. Maybe we're all slackers or we just love it too much :)

Not sure if this is for me. If it is, we're open to discuss pretty aggressive terms for affiliates. We also have a hybrid commission structure that I can tell you about in an email. I don't want to hijack this thread any more with my pitch :)

Since I don't really produce like I once did I noticed over a few accounts I've been reduced to what is perhaps a "junior level" affiliate manager. No problem though as it goes with the territory. Everyone one is at "junior level" at one time or another.

Sometimes your the student and sometimes your the teacher.
