Good morning.

We’d like to inform all of our affiliates about a small update regarding the affiliate tracking links.

So, you may be using either one of these two types of trackings:

Example 1) https://www.videoslots.com/?referral_id=SampleID

OR

Example 2) http://www.videoslots.com:8090/click/?campid=535fc2b1be1fb0e4f35d1d01

Those who are using Example 1 type of tracking – may continue doing so, and everything will remain working perfectly fine.

On the other hand if you are using Example 2 you will need to change the tracker slightly.

ie; All you need to do is simply change the “http://www.” To “http://affiliates.”

Therefore the Tracking Link which before used be:
http://www.videoslots.com:8090/click/?campid=535fc2b1be1fb0e4f35d1d01

Will now be:
http://affiliates.videoslots.com:8090/click/?campid=535fc2b1be1fb0e4f35d1d01

*It is extremely important that affiliates using Example 2 type of tracking to update all their tracking links as advised as soon as possible, as the “old” tracking links will not be working any longer as from Monday 5th of May 2014.

Thanks for the heads up. Can you not 301 anything going to http://www.videoslots.com:8090/click/?campid to affiliates.videoslots.com etc. Or would it mean that even with a 301 the cookie won't get set?

A 301 instructs the browser to redirect which creates a new request and would therefore set a cookie based on the link parameters no problem. If they did it.

Lucas, are you saying that instead of the strange long link with the odd port number 8090 we can just use the simple link format

videoslots.com/?referral_id=whatever

and it will track instead?

Hi All,

Good afternoon.

@ Bonustreak - I understand that updating affiliate tracking links may be a little bit of a hassle, though it actually is the first time that we have required our affiliates to update their tracking links. - (We were meant to do it in the past, although we had not done it until now since we need to.)

This is due to the fact that we are getting going live with NetEnt very soon -(this month) and launching with the LGA license, therefore we are migrating our servers to Malta in accordance with LGA requirements.

[ a 301 would still not suffice.]

@ Vladi - The simple link format such as the Example 1 i have given above would still work and track yes.

(N.B. - The only difference between Example 1 and Example 2 type of tracking links is simply that the Example 1 doesn't count clicks/views stats, whilst the Example 2 does count them along with all the other stats.)
