Directory listings

I was checking one of my websites and I noticed it wasn't listed on several directoies.

Yahoo, Google, DMOZ, Alexa.

How do you get listed? Is this important?

It used to be a great advantage back in the day but today directory listings is almost useless. Also, it's very hard to get listed in DMOZ these days. You basically have to know one of the editors.

You can apply to both yahoo and google but the boosts are none existent now.

As far as i know Yahoo directory doesnt exist anymore. or At least there are no updates made.

Yes, back in the day, directory submissions could catapult a site to the top search engine pages. Now they are virtually useless.

Dmoz stopped updating their directory years ago.. it just sits there now becoming less valuable every year

Actually, Dmoz is still updating their directory in some areas. I managed to get a site into the directory just a while ago, but nothing gambling related. When it comes to sites that has nothing to do with profit or money, I still think it's possible to get in.

Just checked... Build 2.1.11-790462 Sat Aug 1 10:09:46 EDT 2015 Prior to that it was 2012 or 13... perhaps they are updating once per year to keep it alive

Ok, I assume I got that site in last build, but just recently discovered it.
