Conversion rate optimization (CRO) is like the new SEO and the two go hand in hand. When you make improvements on your site for conversion, you are usually also helping your SEO efforts.

This post is a quick intro into the world of conversion rate optimization and perhaps you'll start to see more discussion on conversion over seo in the next few years.

First drive the traffic then think to optimise the convertion, and btw this has always been part of the SEO, just not many people practiced it :)

Yeah, I agree, it's very important. Content is important, but you have to cram some links in there even though it sometimes interfere with the content or layout. You will not regret it once you see those sign ups coming.

It's very important that you properly optimize your site in order to improve conversion rate. But, the thing key factor that will play a major factor is the kind of traffic that you get.

Obviously conversion rate needs to play a role..But I personally believe images do better for conversions than text. Sadly, images aren't what gets you ranked.. Therefor, I think you may need to focus on content slightly more than just conversions. It takes a perfect combination of the two..

I have the opposite experience. The amount of clicks I get on meaningful text links within content by far exceeds the number of clicks I get on banners.

But how can search engines track the conversion rate?

John I think Google can track click through rates... probably not true conversion rate, but still relevant

CasinoKev, it seems that it will be difficult for google to track click through rates of gambling sites since google's ads are not allowed on gambling sites, right? Or do you mean the click through rates of the search results can help to determine the conversion rate?

I meant click through rates from search results. And as slotplayer said, you can use event tracking to get a good idea of the how well your pages convert and which pages and keywords are making you the most money.

What I did was pull a year's worth of stats from my top performing programs and used that data to figure out what a click is worth to me. Then set up Google Analytics to track each click. One of the best things I ever did.

Once that's in place you can start A/B split testing different calls to action, headings, copy, and images to optimize for conversions.

It would be interesting to know what the average conversion rate is from clicks to registrations and then registrations to money players. With all 3 being important in the user journey I always find you need to keep the message congruent all the way through. Google did mention that CTR is now a big indicator, and I guess why wouldn't it be, considering that they place a lot of importance on it through Adwords.

Conversationrate is a part of SEO. You can book a lot of Unique Visitors and spend a lot of money on different Networks, but be careful the most Traffic for Gambling are very expensive and there come mostly not new Users. That is also the unnaturally Traffic to a Website. The natural traffic to a Website came from Backlinks for Example Forum Post bei Gamblingforums like AGD. The effective way to Promote a Casino I Think is to buy Users in Forums with a virtuell Curenncy like on Casoony and so on....There comes real Users and thats the naturally Traffic there cost at first time not realy more than other Visitors. Also you can make a Deal with the Users for Activity. It is the same on PaidForNetworks but the naturaly Traffic you have long time more Income than you Spend many money for short SEO. Think about Alexa, SimilarWEB, RDSBAR and so on That is of course the Reason why everybody runs to Social Networks, because there can you set your link like on Facebook and so on , what is a big part on Seo , but with Social Exchange Sites with a little bit of time and with no money by posting the site with the keys more effective than Unique Visitors. That money you can spend on other thinks. Real natural Traffic is for long time better than every other thinks and the Sign ups from Google comes also without a lot of traffic with good ranking on other points of Seo. It gives many Seo-sites but only a few gives you real good Informations like pushing the Keywords on Google and Co. Think Google is a Book with think only in Keywords, If the Keywords in compitition with the site are very offten in the net you can push it on Google with a lot of Keywords on the first sites. A good mix on On page and off Page with real natural Traffic is the Cheapest and Effectiv way for a standly higher Conversation Rate.......

Sincerly Yours

That is actually a really good post... although a bit tough to read :) Guessing it may have been translated.

I agree to this idea only if you`re a newmate in your field, but if you`re working on serveral similar sites -you should imply the further improvements to make conversion.. Also the earlier you make your site as a converting the better) So you`ll not loose the traffic))
