Betsson closing ACTIVE affiliate accounts

Terms spidered on March 1st, 2014 09:09 AM

SUMMARY: Betsson / Affiliate Lounge are closing affiliate accounts with MANY, MANY players. They are stealing commissions for GOOD affiliates.

This operation has PROVEN ROGUE STATUS over years of predatory behavior. It may be time to band together for a lawsuit or at least block their progress into regulated markets.

7.9 Minimum Activity

We are writing to notify you that your account has been inactive for the past 6 months (has not generated a minimum level of activity / new depositing players).

Under rule 7.9 of our terms and conditions the Company reserves the right to set limits for a minimum level of activity on Affiliate’s accounts and to terminate any agreement not reaching the limit.

Consequently our Affiliate Agreement is now being terminated. Your March and remaining unpaid commission will be paid out in early April 2014 and your account will be permanently shut down after this process. You will not be eligible to earn or receive Commissions after the effective termination date.

Would have been good if you had spelt "closing" correctly. I guess you are as angry as the rest of us & didn't take the time to spell-check!
(If you correct it, please let me know as I have linked to this thread on FB & Twitter).

You are right... these guys are rampantly closing accounts and it appears that it doesn't matter if you are promoting them or not! If you are promoting these guys and have a steady income stream..... ramp down is my suggestion before you lose all of your commissions.

absolute thievery.

Twitter - Deleted and retweeted
FB - I can't do that, been shared :(
Wordpress - fixed, but URL remains due to linking in FB and Twitter

argh... next time I have to let my anger stew while I validate my content!

They haven't given us any time to "Ramp Down"! Accounts will be closed and commission terminated on March 31st. :(
(I did e-mail them to question this decision - but that was on Friday, so I'm not expecting an answer (if I get one at all) until Monday earliest.

I never made a huge amount with them, but after 7 years of loyally promoting their brands it feels like a real stab in the back
(Last 12 months average: 5 new registrations, 1 new depositor and gambling activity each month).

Well I got an answer to my e-mail...

I have located 3 accounts of which one was more active, so I have requested that they all get merged into the account: Xxxxxxxxx and this means you will no longer be effected by the below email.

So it looks like what happened is, I ended up with 3 accounts from when they migrated in Maxino & Nordic Bet and the "Closure" e-mails referred to those 2 accounts (which would also explain why I got 2 copies of the notification).
EXCEPT the e-mails DIDN'T refer to anything - they were just generic. IF they had put the account Log-In name on each mail, I would have spotted what was going on earlier.
Idiots!

So good news for me, and a flag for other affiliates to check to see if the same thing has happened to them...?

Hi Christine,

ngg_streakgaming is the account in question and it has all previous players from migrations as we had moved them from account: xxxxxstreak. Unless you have another account with a different email address registered. The total number of players is 227 (of which 168 are Nordicbet) 2 NRC and 2NDC's came in over the last 6 months and a total of €120.30 was made within the same timeframe.

The email below is merely a reminder that activity and NDC's are very minimal and should there be any interest we can work together towards increasing these numbers. If in the another 6 months there are no changes, the account will risk being closed.

Out of all of those players we made €9 last month... LOL they can shove it where the sun don't shine as far as I am concerned, we have pulled all brands which is BS since JPP closed I was really thinking of adding Casino Euro on my sites!

Same situation here -- it's my ngg_ (nordicbet) account that is being threatened; my original AL account is safe (for now).

All of my Nordicbet players stopped playing in December anyway, likely because the company decided to close all non-Scandinavian player accounts. All of my UK player accounts -- poof. Why they did that is beyond me; I guess they just don't know how to run a business very well. They could have migrated the UK players to one of their other brands; they didn't need to close the accounts and kill the revenue.

I was also considering promoting them again after JP closed (because they had some of the WMS slots), but it seems too risky; I'd rather send the players elsewhere.

I had no idea they closed all non-Scandinavian player accounts when they bought Nordicbet. That's just crazy. Also, I guess it would be better if they could just integrate all accounts into one. For every brand they buy we get a new account.

This problem was already out last week where myself included was up in the RED because of these emails. It seems they are automatic. I feel people are quite over doing this. Why not calm down and ask affiliate manager yourself. They will give the same answer. The reason this automatic email is in place is to try get affiliates more active. Yes it is not right to send it to good affiliates who work hard week in week out for them of course not. But to start calling them rogue and that they close affiliates accounts seems very harsh. I do have to defend them here. Can we have some of you guys out there to please post in this thread if they closed your account because of those terms?? :)

IF they had said "Your account seems to be very low on activity - we'll give you 3 (or 6) month to improve, or we'll close it" - then I would agree with you.
But the e-mail we got said "Your account WILL be closed at the end of March" FULL STOP.

IMHO if they had ANY common sense they would have handled this TOTALLY differently.
I am VERY disappointed with how AL went about this.

Well, it is kind of crazy to send out mails like this, especially saying that the accounts will be closed, no chance to appeal. Someone screwed up, big time. Anyway, it seems that they are trying to fix the whole thing now. I guess they where flooded with emails and haven't had a chance to answer everyone. It is a bit uncomfortable though, knowing that they can indeed close affiliate accounts just because no new players are sent. My suggestion to them would be to get their act together and fix their terms and get rid of their rogue status because their casinos are actually very good. But I guess they won't do that as long as it earns them more money.

Thanks for input guys. I do totally agree with you KK. And yeah I was a bit quick throwing my post out here. I should had given it bit more though and maybe lot more information than I did. It made it look like I am taking these guys in total defence which I am not. And YES it is totally wrong the way they are doing this with those emails. I have seen though other emails which does state giving months to improve results.

And yes same goes with you 3Joker. But it is not the first time they sent those emails so they have had plenty of chances to make all this good again and fix these problems from happening. I am though worried as to those nasty terms. And it is disgusting. No matter what when an affiliate have sent players who deposits. It should be for LIFE TIME....yes LIFE TIME and not suddenly should an affiliate account be closed because an affiliate stops promoting or does not get new depositing players. So I do hope Affiliate Lounge will get something proper done about this situation ASAP. Hope fully we will hear from a REP in here though i doubt it as they didn't care last time.

You can do this - just ask them to merge them all into one master account.

I was actually contacted today by the support, suggesting this. Maybe the saw my post :)

Anyway, I guess this makes it easier to avoid getting tagged again for account closure.

We also got the merged account excuse a week later - an account that we'd never heard of with a suffix of ngg_XXXXXXX (where XXXXXXX is our main account).

However, given the 7-day delay in response and the finality of their initial message of termination we'd already removed Betsson from our sites.
I don't think I'll be adding them back.

That was the account A.L. automatically created for you when they took over Nordic Bet. (ngg = Nordic Gaming Group).
